The Eswatini National Archives and Records Service (ENARS) is mandated to document, preserve and safeguard the nation’s historical narrative for posterity.

Today, ENARS was at Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force (UEDF) Nokwane Headquarters for the documentation of the Army Day. This event serves as a longitudinal record of His Majesty King Mswati III’s forty-year reign and his sustained commitment to national security.

By archiving such institutional milestones, ENARS ensures that the evolution of the State's sovereign defence and leadership remains accessible for scholarly and public inquiry.

If any member of the public would like to access archival collections, kindly contact ENARS's office at (+268) 2416 2625 or email: [email protected] or visit ENARS offices at Lobamba opposite Somhlolo National Stadium, from Monday to Friday except for holidays, 08:30 - 15:30hrs.

The Ministry of Information, Communications and Technology, through the Department of Eswatini National Archives and Records Service (ENARS), yesterday hosted a Stakeholders Engagement Digital Transformation Strategy Development Workshop at Happy Valley Hotel marking a bold step towards joining the ever-evolving digital world.

ENARS established in 1971 has long been the custodian of the nation’s paper-based records.

However, with the world shifting to less paper, ENARS is developing this Strategy to cater for records born before and after technology.

Representing the Principal Secretary of MICT, Under Secretary Ms. Macanjana Motsa emphasized that: "This document represents more than just a plan for new technology. It is a blueprint for survival, a roadmap for relevance, and a commitment to ensuring the story of Eswatini, in all its forms, is not lost to the ravages of time or the silence of digital obsolescence."

Mr. Sipho Mkhonta, Senior Archivist, presented the ENARS Digital Transformation Strategy step-by-step, outlining the roadmap ahead. The session concluded with collaborative group discussions focused on shaping a practical and impactful way forward.

Eswatini’s history matters and through digital transformation, we are ensuring it is preserved, protected, and accessible for generations to come.
