Day 2

Electronic Case Management System (IECMS) focused on a live demonstration of the system and its functionality.

The session provided Members of Parliament with practical insights into how the IECMS operates, including case filing, tracking, document management, and the overall digitalisation of justice processes. Stakeholders were taken through the system’s features aimed at enhancing efficiency, transparency, accountability, and timely access to justice within the justice sector.

The engagement continues to strengthen collaboration and support towards the successful implementation of the Integrated Electronic Case Management System in Eswatini.

The Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs today commenced a stakeholder engagement workshop aimed at sensitizing the Ministry of Justice Portfolio Committees from both Houses on the Integrated Electronic Case Management System (IECMS).

Day 1 of the engagement focused on Change Management, highlighting the importance of embracing digital transformation in the justice delivery system to improve efficiency, transparency, accountability, and access to justice.

The workshop brings together key stakeholders to strengthen understanding and collaboration as the Ministry advances the implementation of the IECMS in modernizing court and justice administration processes.

On the final day of the working session, the National Mechanism for Implementation, Reporting and Follow-Up (NMIRF), with continued technical support from The Commonwealth Secretariat, concluded a productive and impactful engagement focused on advancing Eswatini’s Fourth Cycle National Report under the Universal Periodic Review (UPR).

Over the past three days, stakeholders collaborated extensively to refine inputs, strengthen coordination, and ensure a comprehensive and evidence-based report that reflects the country’s progress, challenges, and ongoing commitments to human rights.

Deliberations also reinforced responses to the List of Issues under the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR), further demonstrating Eswatini’s dedication to upholding its international obligations.

Today, the Honourable Minister of Justice, Prince Simelane, received a courtesy visit from representatives of the Commonwealth Secretariat,Dr Justin Pettit (Acting Head of Human Rights) and Phumlani Dlamini (Human Rights Adviser).

The meeting provided an opportunity to strengthen collaboration between the Ministry of Justice - Eswatini and The Commonwealth Secretariat, particularly in advancing human rights initiatives.

Today, the National Mechanism for Implementation, Reporting and Follow-Up (NMIRF) convened a working session, with support from The Commonwealth Secretariat, to advance the preparation of Eswatini’s Fourth Cycle National Report under the Universal Periodic Review (UPR).

The session also focused on coordinating and strengthening responses to the List of Issues under the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR). Bringing together key stakeholders, the working session aims to ensure a comprehensive, inclusive, and evidence-based reporting process that reflects national progress, challenges, and commitments in the promotion and protection of human rights.
