Facility TB Lay Cadres Comprehensive Training in pictures (Group 1, part 1)
The Ministry of Health, through the National TB Control Programme (NTCP), is also implementing passive case finding through facility-based TB lay cadres. These include TB Expert Clients, TB Screening Officers, and TB Adherence Officers, who are deployed across health facilities in all regions of the country.
In strengthening this initiative, NTCP conducted a 3-day residential workshop aimed at enhancing TB case finding, data quality, and alignment with the National TB Strategic Plan (NSP) 2024–2028.
The objectives of the training were to:
1. Strengthen TB screening, identification, referral, and contact tracing skills
2. Enhance understanding of updated TB guidelines, treatment, and TB preventive therapy (TPT)
3. Build competency in CMIS for accurate, complete, and timely data entry
4. Improve data validation, reporting, and utilization for decision-making
5. Strengthen patient tracking and linkage systems to reduce loss to follow-up
6. Capacitate Facility TB Lay Cadres on TB diagnostics, including Computer-Aided Detection using Artificial Intelligence (CAD/AI)
7. Basic facts on TB and latent TB.
8. Collaboration between TB, NCDs, mental health, cancer, and HIV.
