📢 Pop Up For Your Rights – Community Outreach

On July 21st, 2026, the Turks and Caicos Islands Human Rights Commission hosted a Pop Up For Your Rights (PUFYR) session at Graceway Supermarket, Leeward Highway, Providenciales, engaging directly with the public to promote human rights awareness.

During the session, Commission Officers interacted with 32 individuals, distributed educational materials, and answered questions on a range of human rights topics.

The Commission remains committed to strengthening public awareness and access to human rights information across the Turks and Caicos Islands. Stay tuned for the announcement of our next PUFYR session.

👩🏽‍🏫📚 Empowering Young People Through Human Rights Education ✨

On May 5th, 2026, the Turks and Caicos Islands Human Rights Commission (TCIHRC) conducted a Human Rights Training at the Edward C. Gartland Youth Centre in Providenciales.

The session was led by Education and Outreach Officer, Mr. Samuel Lightbourn, and supported by Deputy Director, Ms. Enjaleek Dickenson. Using the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) as a guide, 14 young people participated in interactive discussions and engaging activities designed to strengthen their understanding of their rights and responsibilities.

The Commission extends its sincere appreciation to the youth participants and staff of the Edward C. Gartland Youth Centre for their warm welcome, active participation, and enthusiasm throughout the session. We look forward to continuing our partnership and returning for future engagements.

Through education and awareness, we continue to empower young people to become informed, confident, and responsible members of our community. 💙

On, May 28th, 2026, the Turks and Caicos Islands Human Rights Commission facilitated a one-day training programme on Human Rights in Enforcement: Practical Application for Frontline Officers.

The interactive session brought together 12 frontline enforcement personnel to explore practical approaches to professional conduct, lawful enforcement, officer safety, safeguarding considerations, accountability, and the protection of vulnerable persons.

Participants engaged in scenario-based discussions and role-play exercises focused on real operational situations encountered in the field. The Commission was encouraged by the high level of participation and meaningful dialogue throughout the programme.

The TCI Human Rights Commission remains committed to promoting awareness, strengthening capacity, and supporting good practice across public institutions in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
