Network & NRW training course for SAWACO

September 5, 2022 — The Metropolitan Waterworks Authority (MWA), led by Mrs. Nisapas Wongpat, Assistant Governor (Business), welcomed the delegation from Saigon Water Corporation (SAWACO), Vietnam, to have a training with MWA on the topic “Network and Non-revenue Water Management” during 5-12 September 2022 at the Metropolitan Waterworks Authority.

This training course aimed to transfer knowledge of waterworks in terms of water network management and water loss management. This course was divided into both theory and practice sessions as well as a study visit at the actual work site for a total of 6 working days. This would benefit the development of the capabilities of the waterworks personnel in Vietnam as well as strengthening the relationship between these two organizations. Also, it was considered an opportunity to expand the scope of MWA’s training services on waterworks to the international level.

On 9 November 2021, Mr. Komkrit Dinakara Na Ayudhya, Deputy Governor (Eastern Services), Mrs. Nisapas Wongpat, Assistant Governor (Business) together with the management team of Assistant Governor (Business) have a meeting with Mr. Sándor Sipos, Ambassador of Hungary and the team at the Embassy of Hungary to discuss the potential business cooperation and to share the ideas on waterworks training course.

Hungary is one of the most outstanding countries in water management, with expertise in water conservation, renewable energy from wastewater, water engineering, surface water and groundwater management. We, MWA, hope that today's cooperation will further support the development of water supply in Thailand.

On 3 November 2021, Mrs. Nisapas Wongpat, Assistant Governor (Business), Mr. Nurach Noisopa, Nonthaburi Branch Office Manager together with representatives from Water Loss Management Department and relevant staff have an online meeting with K-Water and USOL Co., Ltd. for the preparation of the NRW-Advanced Water Leak Monitoring Pilot Project which uses automatic leak detection sensors, developed by Korean technology, to detect pipe leakage in order to improve the MWA’s NRW management process.

This NRW-Advanced Water Leak Monitoring Pilot Project is one of our continuing studies for organizational development, including innovation development and future business opportunities.

On 22 September 2021, Mr.Teeradeach Katchpakerin, Director of Water Transmission and Distribution System Maintenance Division, together with Mr.Posatorn Kachacheewa, Mr.Sathit Songmoolnak attended the Malaysia International Water Convention (MIWC) 2021 for the Virtual Technical Tour by presenting a video on the topic “Underwater Trunk Main Repair” which conveyed the special techniques for pipe repair of Water Transmission and Distribution System Maintenance Division by using a diver.
On this occasion, Mrs.Nisapas Wongpat, Assistant Governor (M-WIT), Mr. Sermsak Jansam, Director of Water Transmission and Distribution Control Department and staff members from Water Transmission and Distribution Control Department and M-WIT joined this event as well.

เมื่อวันที่ 15 กันยายน พ.ศ. 2564 สมาคมทรัพยากรน้ำแห่งประเทศออสเตรเลีย (AWA) ร่วมกับ สมาคมการประปาและน้ำเสียแห่งประเทศเวียดนาม (VWSA) ร่วมเปิดงาน Vietnam Australia Water Week 2021 ซึ่งมีกำหนดจัดระหว่างวันที่ 15-17 กันยายน พ.ศ. 2564 ณ เมืองฮานอย ประเทศเวียดนาม ผ่านการจัดงานโดยระบบ Online งานดังกล่าวมีวัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อสร้างเวทีแลกเปลี่ยนเรียนรู้การบริหารจัดการน้ำ การนำเสนอเทคโนโลยีการบริหารจัดการน้ำด้านต่างๆ และการสร้างเครือข่ายองค์กรเพื่อความยั่งยืนของทรัพยากรน้ำระหว่างประเทศเป็นสำคัญ

On 26 August 2021, The Metropolitan Waterworks Authority (MWA) Thailand organized a webinar on the theme "Practice in incident management and water resilience".
The event was declared open by Mr. Kavee Areekul, MWA Governor. In his opening remark, he emphasized on service improvement for customers and efficient operation in the fast-changing situations.

The webinar provided the participants with new perspectives and insights into lessons learned and best practices in water management during the time of Covid-19, digital disruption, climate change and incident challenges from 9 leading water organizations in Asia.

This webinar was attended by several water professionals from Thailand and international water utilities. It was also live broadcast on Facebook and overwhelmingly received a lot of attention from participants.

MWA Representatives join AWA Young Water Professionals, Australia

Today (July 2, 2021) Four representatives from MWA including 1) Mr. Kittikhun Chitsonthi, Engineer Level 5, Electrical Power Maintenance Division, 2) Ms. Khanitnapa Saipavan, Engineer Level 5, Electrical and Mechanical System Construction Division 3) Mr. Teerapat Sukpanee, Engineer Level 4, Maintenance Division and 4) Mr. Jarudech Kengraksat Engineer Level 3, Maintenance Division, join the kick off meeting “Online Emerging Water Leader Program (EWLP)”. This is under the project “Young Water Professionals Network, Asia-Pacific region” organized by Australian Water Association (AWA).

In this event, Mr. Thatsit Sakulpong, Engineer Level 7, Strategic Planning and International Affairs Division, MWA representative, presents about overall information of MWA and water management in Thailand in order to share brief information about Thailand and Thai culture along with organizational context among participants.

The AWA Young Water Professionals 2021 is participated by 30 young water professionals from many countries such as Cambodia, Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, Nepal and Australia. The program will comprise of knowledge sharing activities, a number of workshops and networking activities for sustainable water development in Asia-Pacific region in the duration of 12 months, from July 2021 – June 2022. It is considered as a good opportunity for MWA representatives to learn good practices and create networking with international participants. On May 21, 2021, 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m., Mr. Komkrit Dinakara Na Ayudhya, Deputy Governor (Engineering and Construction), delivered a presentation on “Water Management & Strategies of MWA” at an online webinar with SgWX Water Utilities, Singapore, via WebEx application. This webinar was initiated by SgWX Water Utilities which is a leading public and private water network from Singapore and other Asian countries. Mr. Komkrit Dinakara Na Ayudhya described a major challenge that MWA has been facing - the problem of seawater intrusion and the growing demand under restricted resouces. Also, he mentioned how MWA thought of ways to cope with these challenges both in the short and long term.

This webinar was an exchange of knowledgeable opinions in technologies and water management between the MWA and it was well welcomed by many attendees. The purpose of this presentation was to exchange and share information to find MWA presents on Singapore Water Exchange Webinar.

This webinar will share the experience about how MWA copes with the saltwater intrusion problem right now by using AnSaT. The AnSaT won the International Innovation Awards: IIA2020.

MWA To Be a Networking Partner with DWASA

On February 24, 2021, M-WIT, led by Assistant Governor Mrs. Nisapas Wongpat, and her team joined an online meeting with the Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (DWASA), Bangladesh, which was led by Mr. Taqsem A Khan, Managing Director and CEO, with the aim of potential mutual collaboration between MWA and DWASA.

This meeting was to build a network of academic cooperation. At first, there will be online seminars to exchange knowledge and experience with each other on various issues, and expand into other collaborative activities that benefits both organizations in the future.
