🏫 EEF (Thailand) and BMA Expand TSQM-I Project Across 101 Schools in 50 Bangkok Districts in Year 3
🌆 Entering its 3rd year of implementation in 2026, EEF (Thailand) and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) scaled the TSQM‑I innovation framework across 101 target schools spanning all 50 districts of Bangkok, positioning the city’s small‑to‑medium urban schools as a key testbed within Thailand’s broader TSQM ecosystem.
📊 The project provides school administrators, teachers, and educational staff with data-driven toolkits, school-based management systems, and active-learning strategies designed to transform classroom instruction and student engagement while driving innovation across four priority strands: foundational literacy, student health and wellbeing, inclusive education for learners with special needs, and locally defined problem fields aligned to each school’s context.
🔄 Utilizing an all-inclusive, school-wide improvement methodology, the initiative elevates educational standards in small-to-medium urban schools without burdening teachers with excessive administrative paperwork or reporting tasks.
🚀 This systemic, city-wide expansion equips tens of thousands of urban students with essential practical life skills, critical thinking capabilities, and problem-solving tools required for future employment.

🏆 Prime Minister’s TZD+ Awards 2026 Honor Cross-Sector Champions Driving Systemic Reform to Prevent Educational Dropout
🏛️ EEF (Thailand) hosted the Prime Minister’s Thailand Zero Dropout Plus Awards 2026 in Bangkok to honor public, private, and civil society partners driving systemic education reforms that ensure no child is left behind.
📉 The milestone ceremony highlighted extraordinary national progress, showing how integrated provincial operations reduced the number of out-of-school children and youth from over 1 million to approximately 600,000 across the country in just two to three years.
🚨 Central to this breakthrough is the nationwide use of real-time student tracking tools that identify at-risk youth and enable timely, individualized re-entry into tailored education pathways. Linked directly with household-level case-finding, these data systems help identify each child by name, connect them with the right support, and address barriers to learning through coordinated, needs-based interventions.

🎯 These multi-agency operational frameworks reinforce Thailand’s commitment to quality and equitable education by establishing a comprehensive support system that helps ensure every child and young person is identified, supported, and able to access an appropriate learning pathway.

📗 Thai PISA Results: Encouraging Progress, but the Equity Gap Remains
✨ Thailand’s latest PISA results show encouraging gains across key learning areas, with average scores increasing in
👉 Science: +23 points
👉 Mathematics: +13 points
👉 Reading: +13 points
Thai students also recorded 476 points in computational problem solving.
💡 While these improvements are encouraging, the achievement gap remains significant. The difference between Thailand’s highest- and lowest-performing students is still around 200 points across the core domains.
🌏 For EEF (Thailand), these findings highlight the importance of looking beyond overall scores and ensuring that progress reaches learners who face the greatest barriers to education. EEF (Thailand) remains committed to advancing evidence-based approaches that strengthen learning opportunities and reduce education inequality, so that every learner has the opportunity to progress.
🙏🏻 EEF (Thailand) thanks the Bangkok Post for highlighting these findings and the perspectives of the Equitable Education Research Institute (EEFI).

🌍 Global Insights, Local Impact: How WERA and THERA are Redefining Educational Research for Equity
On August 6, 2026, the Equitable Education Fund (EEF) Thailand, Faculty of Education, Kasetsart University, and the Office of the Education Council (OEC) convened a landmark dialogue featuring key leaders from the World Education Research Association (WERA). The shared goal: bridge international expertise with local classroom realities to build a more adaptive and equitable education system.
💡 Key Insights Shared by WERA Leaders:
- Co-Designed Research: Effective policymaking happens when researchers, educators, and policy bodies collaborate from Day 1—ensuring academic evidence quickly translates into real-world action.
- Empowering with Data: AI tools and Big Data should be used to coach and support teachers and school communities, driving bottom-up improvement rather than imposing rigid rankings.
🌱 Grounding Ideas in Local Action:
Drawing from EEF’s hands-on work in creating inclusive learning environments, one truth stands out: solving real classroom challenges requires a connected national research ecosystem that directly informs policy.
🤝 Connecting Local Realities to the World Stage: THERA
To turn these global insights into continuous action, partners established the foundation for the Education Research Association (THERA). By linking Thai educators and researchers directly with WERA’s global network, THERA opens doors to international mentorship, research residencies, and global policy platforms—ensuring every child’s classroom reality drives meaningful educational reform.

📌 Deep South Section 12 Learning Centers Graduate 30 Islamic School Youth and Establish 5-University Academic Consortium
🕌 Prince of Songkla University (Pattani Campus) and EEF (Thailand) hosted the "Show Share Shoot" forum in the Southern Border Provinces, celebrating 30 graduates from Section 12 Learning Centers across 23 Ponoh Islamic schools.
📉 Over 10,000 out-of-school youth in Pattani alone remain outside formal education, largely due to rigid school models that conflict with local religious traditions and economic survival needs.
🎯 The initiative empowers local religious leaders (Babos) as community educators under flexible Section 12 frameworks, enabling youth to earn recognized qualifications while remaining rooted in their faith and local culture.
🌏 Securing academic continuity, 5 leading universities—including Prince of Songkla University and Thammasat University—signed an MOU to create credit-bank transfer pathways into higher education for Section 12 graduates.

📌 AI Guidance Counselor 'Future You' Empowers Thai Youth to Discover Identity and Map Career Pathways
🤖 EEF (Thailand), KBTG, MIT Media Lab, and Chulalongkorn University piloted the AI counseling tool "Future You" at Bangkok, Thailand.
📉 Millions of underprivileged Thai students face deep financial and social barriers, making it difficult to visualize long-term career choices or commit to higher education pathways after Grade 9.
🎯 Future You platform generates an interactive avatar of the student's future self based on their interests, boosting future self-continuity and enabling students to translate personal passions into actionable academic plans.
🌏 Grounded in action-research data, this joint initiative aims to deploy "Future You" nationwide as an AI co-counselor to narrow structural educational inequality across all Thai classrooms.

📗 EEF (Thailand) and NHSO Unite under Thailand Zero Dropout Plus to Ensure Healthcare Rights Actively Reach Every Vulnerable Learner.
👧 While universal health coverage exists on paper in Thailand, thousands of vulnerable children suffer from untreated conditions like visual impairments, anemia, and dental pain, causing educational exclusion to begin long before a student formally leaves the classroom.
📍 To close this gap, EEF (Thailand) and the National Health Security Office (NHSO) have established the synchronized “FIND, CONNECT, CARE” 3-step operational pipeline that maps individual-level datasets across 7,000+ sub-districts to locate out-of-school youth, securely interlinks data systems to verify rights and route medical care, and mobilizes local networks to deliver continuous health screenings and treatment close to home.
📊 Demonstrating immediate operational impact, an initial pilot screened over 42,000 students and provided corrective eyewear to more than 14,000 children with vision impairments, transforming fragmented social programs into a single, coordinated safety net led by local governments, health networks, and schools.
✨ By transitioning from passive administration to proactive, data-driven delivery, this joint mechanism removes physical health barriers—securing long-term educational retention for every child.

Why Educational Equity Requires Proactive Healthcare Delivery Healthcare access is dropout prevention, realized only when a child's physical and mental health are actively secured so they can learn. In Thailand, universal health coverage is guaranteed on paper; yet unmet medical needs persist among....

Na Leang SAO Builds a Three-Tier Safety Net to Keep Young People Connected to Learning
📌 Na Leang Subdistrict Administrative Organization (SAO), Nakhon Phanom, works with EEF (Thailand), the Department of Learning Encouragement (DOLE), and CYF Thailand to reach and support out-of-school youth through a three-tier safety net.
🤝 From mainstream schools to flexible learning and highly individualized pathways under Section 12, the network connects young people with the right support based on their needs, readiness, interests, and circumstances.
🔄 Young people can move across pathways as their circumstances change—creating a flexible, safe, and supportive learning journey, rather than a one-size-fits-all route.
🌱 By working closely with families, communities, and local partners, Na Leang is helping ensure that every young person has a pathway to learning, skills, and a future with greater opportunity.

🔎 From Education Research to Policy: Turning Evidence into Action
🧷 How can education research move beyond reports and academic discussion to inform better policy and create meaningful change for learners?
📗 A recent Bangkok Post article highlights the importance of strengthening the connection between education research, evidence and policymaking — helping ensure that knowledge generated through research can be translated into practical policy and system-level action.
📜 At EEF (Thailand), we believe that closing the gap between evidence, policy and practice is essential to building a more equitable education system — one that responds to the realities and diverse learning needs of children and young people.
