(𝐎𝐍𝐄) 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡:
What affects one system often affects the others too. 🌍
There is an approach that has been introduced to us for quite a while, called "One Health." It represents integrated health as one whole, bringing together human, animal, and environmental health.
The air we breathe, the food we grow, and the wildlife we share this planet with are all deeply interconnected. When habitats are destroyed, animal diseases spill over into human populations. When our water and soil are polluted, our own health suffers.
𝐖𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐮𝐬.
And nowhere is this more visible than in 𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 (𝐀𝐌𝐑). 💊
Here's something most people don't realize: 𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐦 𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐬, 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐬, 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐢𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝𝐰𝐢𝐝𝐞. Researchers estimate that livestock account for roughly 70% of all antibiotics used globally, given to help animals grow faster and stay disease-free in crowded farm conditions. 🐄🐖🐔
Used correctly, this isn't inherently dangerous. But used incorrectly, bacteria don't just die off. They adapt, and survive. Those resistant bacteria can move straight into the food we eat, into waterways, and into the wider environment.
And if we get infected, the antibiotics we usually rely on may no longer work. 😷
The numbers are already alarming. According to WHO, 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐌𝐑 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝟒.𝟕 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐬 𝐠𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟏 𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐞, with over 1 million of those deaths directly caused by resistant infections. And without stronger global action, deaths linked to AMR are projected to keep climbing in the decades ahead. 😲

🌿𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭 are interconnected challenges affecting ecosystems, food security, water resources, and livelihoods.

⚠️ 𝐃𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝟏.𝟖 𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 worldwide, putting further pressure on water resources, food security, and livelihoods. As climate change intensifies, building resilience and restoring degraded land are becoming increasingly urgent.
💰 At COP17, 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞, 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫, 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐝 & 𝐏𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞, 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐬 & 𝐒𝐨𝐢𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 & 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 will be brought together as interconnected priorities. 🤝 Healthy land supports healthy communities. Restoring it means strengthening resilience for people, nature, and future generations.

Did you know that jellyfish can tell us something about the state of our planet? At first glance, it’s just a wobbly, see-through blob you try to avoid stepping on at the beach. But what if this seemingly insignificant creature is an early warning sign of profound changes taking place in our oceans?

𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 (𝟏–𝟕 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭)
🌍 Breastfeeding provides the best nutritional start in life for a baby, especially for building strong immune systems. WHO and UNICEF recommend that children 𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐫 of birth and be 𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐟𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝟔 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐬 of life to prevent significant health risks.
Globally, exclusive breastfeeding rates rose by 𝟏𝟎 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐬 over the past decade, reaching 𝟒𝟖% 𝐢𝐧 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟑, close to the World Health Assembly's target of 50% by 2025. Progress is real, but the goal isn't fully met yet.
👩‍⚕️ Breastfeeding isn't just about the baby. Longer breastfeeding duration, particularly beyond 12 months, is linked to a 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫, 𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐞 𝟐 𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐛𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 for mothers.
💼 Yet returning to work after birth remains one of the most vulnerable time for breastfeeding continuity, according to the Global Breastfeeding Scorecard. Without paid leave and workplace support, many mothers stop breastfeeding earlier than recommended.
🇹🇭 Thailand has taken a step forward: as of december 2025 an amendment to the Labour Protection Act extended paid maternity leave from 𝟗𝟖 𝐭𝐨 𝟏𝟐𝟎 𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐬, with full wages for the first 60 days and plus 15 days of paid spousal leave to support childcare.
This shows breastfeeding is not only a personal choice but a 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡, 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐲 𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐞. Knowledge and willingness alone are not enough without paid leave, supportive workplaces, and accurate information.
As more countries strengthen maternity protections, investing in breastfeeding-friendly policies is also an investment in mothers’ and children’s health.
👩🏻‍🍼 Supporting breastfeeding means supporting mothers through policy, workplaces, and community.

𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐋𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐎𝐜𝐞𝐚𝐧'𝐬 𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭-𝐊𝐞𝐩𝐭 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭 🌊
When we think about fighting climate change, we usually picture forests on land. But according to research by McLeod et al. (2011) and Fourqurean et al. (2012), there's a quieter hero working even harder underwater: 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐬, 𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐨𝐧 𝐮𝐩 𝐭𝐨 𝟑𝟓 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐬. 🌱
Despite covering barely 0.2% of the ocean floor, 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐬 𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐲 𝟏𝟎% 𝐨𝐟 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐨𝐧 𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫, and once buried, that 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬, far longer than most forests on land.
🔬 In 2025, the most comprehensive study of its kind, analysing over 3,240 soil samples across 61 countries (Conservation International, published in Nature Communications), found that 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝟏.𝟐 𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐨𝐧 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, avoiding over 200 billion USD in climate damages. That's roughly the same as removing the annual carbon footprint of 100 million homes.
But this superhero is disappearing fast. 𝐒𝐞𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 from under 1% per year before 1940 to 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝟕% 𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝟏𝟗𝟗𝟎 (McLeod et al., 2011), and every hectare lost releases carbon that took centuries, sometimes millennia, to build up.
That said, not every scientist agrees seagrass should carry the spotlight alone. A 2026 study in Environmental Research Letters cautioned that seagrass's mitigation potential may be too small on its own to meaningfully offset global emissions. But that's not a reason to look away, it's a reason to widen the lens. 𝐒𝐞𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝𝐧'𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐫 𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬; 𝐢𝐭 𝐬𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐲 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐚 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞, 𝐚𝐬 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐩𝐢𝐞𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐦𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐛𝐢𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐩𝐮𝐳𝐳𝐥𝐞.
🌏 This shows that 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐬𝐧'𝐭 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝. What's quietly disappearing underwater may be just as important, and right now, it's being overlooked.
🤝 Protecting seagrass means protecting carbon storage, marine biodiversity, and the coastal communities who depend on both. It's a small, quiet ecosystem doing an outsized part of the work, and it needs our attention just as much as any forest does.

𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: 𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐬
🌳 Forest restoration is more than simply planting trees. It involves restoring degraded ecosystems, improving biodiversity, protecting water resources, and strengthening resilience to climate change.
🌱 Healthy forests help 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐨𝐧, 𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐢𝐥 𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞, making them one of the most effective nature-based solutions for a changing climate.
💚 Beyond environmental benefits, forest restoration also supports local livelihoods through sustainable forest management, eco-tourism, and other nature-based economic opportunities.
🇹🇭 Thailand is one example of this effort. The country currently has 𝟏𝟎𝟏.𝟔𝟕 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐫𝐚𝐢 of forest, covering 𝟑𝟏.𝟒𝟔% of its land area. Under the National Forest Development Master Plan, Thailand aims to increase forest cover to 𝟑𝟓.𝟑𝟓% 𝐛𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟕, while the National Strategy sets a broader target of 𝟒𝟓% 𝐭𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐚 nationwide.
🌏 As countries invest in restoring forests, success depends not only on planting more trees, but also on protecting ecosystems, using native species, and ensuring long-term forest management.
🌿 Restoring forests is an investment in biodiversity, climate resilience, and a more sustainable future.

🤍 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐈𝐬 𝐀𝐥𝐬𝐨 𝐚 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐈𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐞 ?
🌍 According to the World Bank, an estimated 𝟓𝟎𝟎 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝𝐰𝐢𝐝𝐞 lack access to menstrual products and adequate facilities for menstrual hygiene management (MHM). But menstrual health is about much more than having access to pads—it also relies on 𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫, 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬.
As climate change intensifies floods and droughts, these essential services are increasingly disrupted, making it harder for women and girls to manage menstruation safely and with dignity.
🇰🇭 In Cambodia, communities around Tonle Sap Lake experience seasonal flooding for several months each year. Floodwaters can inundate latrines, contaminate water sources, and make it difficult to change or safely dispose of menstrual products.
💧 This shows that menstrual health is not only a health issue but also a climate resilience issue. Knowledge and menstrual products alone are not enough if women and girls cannot access the water, sanitation, and facilities they need.
As climate risks continue to grow, investing in 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞-𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐖𝐀𝐒𝐇 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐬 is also an investment in 𝐰𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧'𝐬 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡, 𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲.
👩🏻 Climate action must include menstrual health, dignity, and access to essential services for every woman and girl.
