From the cold north🇳🇴 to Thai🇹🇭 dinner tables: How does Norwegian seafood enter Thailand?🐟🍣
Yesterday Team Norway visited the main airport in Bangkok to learn more about how the fish is handled at the airport before it is transported to Thai seafood-lovers🇳🇴✈️🇹🇭
The embassy, together with The Norwegian Seafood Council and the Thai-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce met with the Thai Ministry of Fisheries and got an insightful tour by the customs authorities and fish inspectors. This was a tour to learn more about how Norwegian seafood, an important export to Thailand, is imported and handled before ending up on Thai dinner tables. We were given insight in how the customs authorities and other actors work to make sure that the food is quickly and properly taken care of before it is transported further. We learnt a lot about the work that is done from the seafood is loaded into the plane in Norway, to it touches ground in Thailand and is sorted to be taken to its final destination.
Norwegian seafood is an important export to Southeast Asia, which needs quick and proper handling to ensure that it keeps its high quality. As an embassy we want to gain knowledge about the work around import of Norwegian products to best support Norwegian businesses and interests in Thailand, and to ensure that Thai consumers get quality products we are proud of.
We thank everybody involved for an interesting and insightful tour!

Lihkku beivviin! Greetings on the Sami People’s Day!
2023 marks the 30th anniversary of celebrating the Sami People’s Day, first celebrated in 1993. The Sami people are the oldest native group in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia. There about 80,000 Sami people living in these countries today, and just less than half speak Sami. The Sami have a rich culture, from traditional livelihood like reindeer herding, to their national costume Gákti, and Sami art! There are nine different Sami languages spoken today, and in Norway, you are most likely to hear Sami in inner Finnmark. If you walk in the streets of Norway today, you are likely to see a blue and red flag with green and yellow stripes: this is the Sami flag. You might also see people in Gákti!

Hils på vår nye studentpraktikant, Mia Kristine! Hun skal være med oss denne våren.
"Hallo, Bangkok!
Say hello to our new intern, Mia Kristine! She will be with us this spring and summer.
"Hello, Bangkok! I’m the new intern at the embassy, Mia Kristine. In June I completed my bachelor's degree in Comparative Politics with a focus on Southeast Asia, and spent a semester abroad in South Korea. Despite having been here only a few weeks, I have fallen in love with Thailand. I have already had the opportunity to try my hand at varied and interesting tasks. Otherwise I spend my time trying every single thing from the local food stalls and exploring the many museums that reside in Bangkok. I have a grand plan to visit all of them! Thailand has so much to offer, and I am excited to see more of the country."

The Seafood under the Stars event hosted by the Thai-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce was a great success!🐟🍣🌟
Seafood under the Stars is an annual event that aims to promote Norway as a seafood nation and is normally held in the garden of the Norwegian Ambassador’s residence in Bangkok.
Ambassador H.E. Mrs Astrid Emilie Helle held the opening speech, followed by Dr. Asbjørn Warvik Rørtveit representing the Norwegian Seafood Council (NSC).
Fresh Norwegian seafood had been brought to Thailand for the occasion, and Chef Jimmy Chok made sure that more than 300 high profile guests got to enjoy the tastiness of Norwegian seafood 🦪🌊🦞
The guests were also entertained by the two Norwegian up and coming artists ANNA and Leila, which in their individual ways lit up the event with captivating performances 🎶🤩
We are already looking forward to next year’s event!

Today we celebrate International Day of Democracy!
Democracy means the freedom to think, speak and love who you want. Democracy enables you to make your voice heard and gives you the right to influence and demand accountability.
Democracy provides hope and the conditions to shape a common future.
Unfortunately, the last 30 years of democratic advances have been eradicated. The global level of democracy is back to where it was before the fall of the Berlin Wall. This constitutes a real threat to sustainable development, global peace and the health of the planet that we share.
New research from the independent institute V-Dem [] shows that democracy outperforms autocracy. Let the Nordic Ambassadors give you 4 reasons why: 🇩🇰🇫🇮🇮🇸🇳🇴🇸🇪

No one should be treated differently because of who they are or who they love.

VAKSINERING AV NORSKE BORGERE
Video greeting from Erna Solberg on World Oceans Day 2020
Today is World Oceans Day 💙🌍
Norway is a leading ocean nation. Our coastline is one of the longest in the world, and the marine areas we manage are more than five times as large as the land. Many thousands of Norwegians spend their workdays in one of the ocean industries within the oil and gas, maritime and seafood sectors. Sustainable management and use of the world’s oceans are crucial to our common future. #WorldOceansDay is a timely reminder of the need for urgent action to ensure clean, healthy and productive oceans for future generations. 🌊
We must build back better in the wake of the pandemic, and make the global economy both greener and bluer, states Prime Minister Erna Solberg. Watch her video greeting below:
Norway’s Minister of Trade and Industry, Iselin Nybø, has an uplifting message to the Norwegian business community in Thailand and other places in the world:
“Thank you for all your hard work. Things will get better. And when they do, it will be up to Norwegian businesses and employees across the world to rebuild our economy”
When we get through this crisis together, Norwegian businesses will be essential in our efforts in getting back to a more normal situation.

✅ VIPPS: #64812
✅ Bankoverføring (se detaljer her): https://www.sjomannskirken.no/kirke/pattaya/vaare-aktiviteter/hjelp-oss-aa-hjelpe/?sfns=mo
Heia Norge i Pattaya! 🇳🇴🇹🇭🇳🇴🇹🇭

Prime Minister Erna Solberg on Norway’s global efforts to combat the coronavirus
The current crisis is challenging to us all. Prime Minister Erna Solberg is clear about how we must combat the #coronavirus:
"Norway strongly believes that global threats require global response and cooperation across borders. Through multilateral cooperation, using the system that we already have in place, and with a strong United Nation at its core".
Norway is stepping up our international efforts. We are ready to do our part - for our #CommonFuture.

Happy Constitution Day to our Norwegian friends - Gratulerer med dagen 🇳🇴 🇳🇴
17 May is Norway’s Constitution Day, which is highly celebrated. 🥳 Before taking to the streets, many like to gather for a 17 May breakfast. 🍳🍞 Children’s parades then take place across the country, as marching bands lead processions through local communities. 🎊
The focus is mostly on food, listening to speeches and music, and playing games at local schools. The day is also an opportunity to show off one's bunad, Norway’s traditional costume worn by both men and women. 🇳🇴
We wish all Norwegians a happy celebration on this special day! 🎉
