Inspired by Kintsugi, our art journey this month is anchored in brokenness and mending.
We will be creating an art piece influenced by the Japanese tradition of using gold to repair broken ceramics.
Golden-repair restores a broken dish into a functional vessel. In fact, with Kintsugi the dish becomes even more precious than it was before.
Kintsugi, or golden repair, can be a rich metaphor for how we as people also break, and an exploration in what to do with the pieces.

A total of 250 children in elementary, middle and high schools committed suicide last year, the highest number since 1986, Japan’s Education Ministry said.
