Consul-General attended the Opening Ceremony of the "2nd Chiang Mai International Film Festival 2026"

U Ming Kyaw Linn, Consul-General of the Consulate General of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in Chiang Mai, at the invitation of Mr. Adisorn Suddee, President of the Northern Film and Digital Media Association, attended the opening ceremony of the "2nd Chiang Mai International Film Festival 2026," held at Central Chiang Mai Airport Plaza in Chiang Mai on 28 August 2026.

The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. Siva Thamikanon, Deputy Governor of Chiang Mai Province, Ms. Pratana Sinthunawa, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Cultural Promotion, Ministry of Culture of Thailand; Consuls-General and diplomatic officials from various Consulates-General based in Chiang Mai, Mr. Adisorn Suddee, President of the Northern Film and Digital Media Association; senior officials from government departments in Chiang Mai Province, actors, directors, and producers from the International film industry, including Myanmar; film enthusiasts; as well as invited guests.

The "2nd Chiang Mai International Film Festival 2026" is being held from 28 to 30 August 2026. Through the coordination of the Consulate-General of Myanmar in Chiang Mai, two films from Myanmar, I wanna be your lobster and Kan Kaung, are being screened at the festival, with representatives from the respective movies currently attending the event.

Consul-General U Ming Kyaw Linn Attends the Inauguration Ceremony of the Chiang Mai University President

U Min Kyaw Lin, Consul-General of the Consulate-General of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in Chiang Mai, attended the inauguration ceremony of Professor Dr. Pongrak Sribanditmongkol, M.D., who officially assumed office for his second term as the President of Chiang Mai University. The ceremony was held at the Sala Tham Hall on the Chiang Mai University campus on Friday, August 21, 2026.

The event was attended by distinguished dignitaries, including former Deputy Prime Minister and former Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Surakiart Sathirathai, Governors of Chiang Mai and Lampang Provinces, Consuls-General and Honorary Consuls from Chiang Mai-based consulates, senior government officials from various departments in Chiang Mai Province, as well as department heads and faculty members from Chiang Mai University.

His Majesty the King of Thailand graciously appointed Dr. Pongrak to this consecutive term following his successful leadership during his initial tenure. His second four-year term officially spans from July 25, 2026, to July 24, 2030.

The Consulate-General of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in Chiang Mai wishes to inform that the office will be closed on May 28, 2026 (Thursday) in observance of Eid al-Adha (a public holiday of Myanmar), and on June 1, 2026 (Monday) in observance of Vesak Day or Visakha Bucha Day (a public holiday of Thailand).

During this period, all consular services, including passport extensions, will be temporarily unavailable. Services will resume on the next working day as usual.

Consul-General Attends the Workshop on Addressing MyanmarThailand Transboundary Haze Pollution

Consul-General U Min Kyaw Linn of the Consulate-General of Myanmar in Chiang Mai attended the opening ceremony of the workshop held under the theme Policy Dialogue on Thailand-Myanmar Cooperation for Cross-Border Measures under the Clear Sky Strategy Framework on 19 May 2026 at the Amora Hotel in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The event was jointly organized by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Thailand and the Thailand Environment Institute.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Thai delegation led by Dr. Surin Worakijthamrong, Director-General of the Pollution Control Department under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, alongside representatives from the Ministry of Commerce and the Thailand Environment Institute. On the Myanmar side, Consul-General U Min Kyaw Linn attended together with the Myanmar delegation led by U San Oo, Director-General of the Environmental Conservation Department under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, which included representatives from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, and the Ministry of Commerce. The workshop is being held from 19 to 22 May 2026.

The workshop aims to enhance cooperation between Myanmar and Thailand to strengthen national capacities toward achieving clean air, sustainable agriculture, and responsible agricultural trade. During the workshop, participants will discuss potential collaboration under the Joint Action Plan of the Clear Sky Strategy (20242030) to jointly respond to the annual transboundary haze crisis affecting the Mekong sub-region. This includes exploring potentials for cooperation in implementing crop traceability systems and Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) such as zero-burning practices.

ပြည်ထောင်စုသမ္မတမြန်မာနိုင်ငံတော်ကောင်စစ်ဝန်ချုပ်ရုံး၊ ချင်းမိုင်မြို့မှ ကောင်စစ်ဝန်ချုပ် ဦးမင်းကျော်လင်း သည် ချင်းမိုင်မြို့တော်၊ မြို့တော်ဝန် Mr. Assanee Buranupakorn ၏ ဖိတ်ကြားချက် အရ ၁၃-၄-၂၀၂၆ ရက်တွင် ချင်းမိုင်မြို့တော်စည်ပင်သာယာရေးရုံးက ကြီးမှူး၍ ချင်းမိုင်မြို့ရှိ မြို့ဟောင်း၏ ထင်ရှားသောဂိတ်တံခါးဖြစ်သည့် သာ့ဖယ်ဂိတ်၌ ကျင်းပပြုလုပ်သော ဆုန်ခရမ် ရေသဘင်ပွဲတော် - Joyful Songkran, My Home ဖွင့်ပွဲအခမ်းအနားသို့ တက်ရောက်ခဲ့ပါသည်။

ဖွင့်ပွဲအခမ်းအနားမစတင်မီ ချင်းမိုင်ခရိုင်၊ သံဃနာယကအဖွဲ့ဥက္ကဋ္ဌဆရာတော်ကြီးအပါအဝင် ချင်းမိုင်မြို့ရှိ ထေရ်ကြီးဝါကြီး သံဃာတော် (၉) ပါးထံမှ အန္တရာယ်ကင်းပရိတ်တရားတော်များနာယူခဲ့ပြီး ကောင်စစ်ဝန်ချုပ်သည် အခြားဧည့်သည်တော်များနှင့်အတူ သံဃာတော်(၃၀)ပါးထံ ဆွမ်းဆန်စိမ်းနှင့် လှူဖွယ်ပစ္စည်းများ ဆက်ကပ်လှူဒါန်းခဲ့ပါသည်။ ထို့နောက် တက်ရောက်လာသူ ပရိတ်သတ်များက လှူဒါန်းမှုအစုစုတို့အတွက် ရေစက်သွန်းလောင်း အမျှပေးဝေခဲ့ပါသည်။

Consul-General of the Myanmar Consulate-General in Chiang Mai Attends the Opening Ceremony of Songkran Festival in Chiang Mai

U Min Kyaw Linn, the Consul-General of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in Chiang Mai, attended the Opening Ceremony of Songkran Festival held under the theme of Joyful Songkran, My Home, on 13 April, 2026, upon the invitation of Chiang Mai Mayor Mr. Assanee Buranupakorn. The Ceremony was organized by Chiang Mai Municipality and took place at the famous Tha Phae Gate, in Chiang Mais Old City. Also present at the event were Governor and Mayor of Chiang Mai province, Consuls-General and Consuls from the Consulates-General based in Chiang Mai as well as officials from various offices in Chiang Mai.
Before the opening ceremony, a religious service was conducted, which included listening to the chanting of protective Paritta suttas by the 9 venerable monks, led by the Patriarch of the Chiang Mai Provincial Sangha Organization. Along with other distinguished guests, the Consul-General offered alms to 30 monks. Following the offering, the congregation shared the merits gained from these noble deeds through a water-libation ceremony.

နှစ်သစ်ကူးရုံးပိတ်ရက်များ အသိပေးကြေညာခြင်း

မြန်မာ့နှစ်သစ်ကူးရိုးရာ သင်္ကြန်ပွဲတော်အခါသမယ နှစ်သစ်ကူးရုံးပိတ်ရက်များဖြစ်သည့် ၁၄-၄-၂၀၂၅ ရက် (အင်္ဂါနေ့)မှ ၁၉-၄-၂၀၂၅ ရက် (တနင်္ဂနွေနေ့)အထိသည် မြန်မာ ကောင်စစ်ဝန်ချုပ်ရုံး၊ ချင်းမိုင်မြို့၏ ရုံးပိတ်ရက်များ ဖြစ်ပါကြောင်းနှင့် နိုင်ငံကူးလက်မှတ် သက်တမ်းတိုးခြင်းအပါအဝင် ကောင်စစ်ဆိုင်ရာကိစ္စရပ်များအား ၂၀-၄-၂၀၂၅ ရက် (တနင်္လာနေ့) မှ စ၍ ပြန်လည်လက်ခံဆောင်ရွက်ပေးသွားမည်ဖြစ်ပါကြောင်း အသိပေးအပ်ပါသည်။

The Consulate-General of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in Chiang Mai wishes to inform you that the office will be closed from 14 April 2026 to 19 April 2026 in observance of the Thingyan Public Holidays.

During this period, all consular services, including passport extensions, will be temporarily unavailable. Services will resume on 20 April 2026.

On the Eve of Thingyan (A-kyo Day), 13 April 2026 (Monday), the Consulate-General of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Chiang Mai will provide consular services from 10:30 am to 12:00 noon. Document collection will be available starting from 3:30 pm.

Consul-General U Ming Kyaw Linn Visits Chiang Mai Women Correctional Institution and Donates Essential Supplies for Inmates, including Myanmar Nationals

On April 8, 2026, U Ming Kyaw Linn, Consul-General of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in Chiang Mai, visited the Women Correctional Institution alongside a delegation of Honorary Consuls-General from Honorary consulates based in Chiang Mai and the Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Chiang Mai Office).

During the visit, the delegation observed the living conditions, healthcare services, and daily routines of the inmates, including Myanmar nationals. They also viewed the implementation of vocational training programs, language courses, and various activities designed to promote the mental and physical well-being of the inmates, as well as provided donations of food and sanitary items.

Ms. Wipornpak Kaiboonsri, Director of the Chiang Mai Women Correctional Institution, and relevant officials warmly welcomed the Consul-General and the delegation. The Director briefed the delegation on the institute's objectives and its daily operational processes. During the meeting, the Consul-General emphasized and discussed matters concerning the provision of proper healthcare for over 150 Myanmar nationals among the approximately 1,800 female inmates, as well as ensuring consular access, including facilitating contact with their families in Myanmar.
Following the discussion, the Consul-General provided personal care products, ready-to-eat meals including Myanmar traditional food, and necessary supplies for infants born to mothers during their imprisonment. Furthermore, the Consul-General and the delegation showed their support by purchasing various handicrafts produced by the inmates.

အဆိုပါ “ဃနာနို့ဆွမ်း” ဆက်ကပ်လှူဒါန်းပွဲကို ထိုင်းဘုရင် ချုလာလောင်ကွန် (ရာမ ၅) ထီးနန်းစိုးစံစဉ် ထိုင်းနိုင်ငံ၊လန်ပန်းခရိုင်အတွင်း အခြေချနေထိုင်ခဲ့သောမြန်မာလူမျိုးများကတည်ထား ကိုးကွယ်ခဲ့သော မြန်မာမှုအနုသုခုမလက်ရာများဖြင့် တည်ဆောက်ထားသည့် စေတီပုထိုး၊ ဘုရား ကျောင်းကန်များကို ပြန်လည်ထိန်းသိမ်းရန်နှင့် မြန်မာ့ယဉ်ကျေးမှု ထုံးတမ်းအစဉ်အလာများကို ပြန်လည်ဖော်ထုတ်ရန်နှင့် မြှင့်တင်ရန် အဓိကရည်ရွယ်၍ ကျင်းပခြင်းဖြစ်ပါသည်။

ယခုကျင်းပသည့် ပွဲတော်မှာ ဒုတိယအကြိမ်ကျင်းပခဲ့ခြင်းဖြစ်ပြီး ပထမအကြိမ်ပွဲတော်အား ၂၀၂၄ ခုနှစ်၊ ဇန်နဝါရီလတွင် ကျင်းပပြုလုပ်ခဲ့ပါသည်။

အဆိုပါ အခမ်းအနားသို့ လန်ပန်းခရိုင် အုပ်ချုပ်ရေးမှူး၊ မြို့တော်ဝန်၊ လန်ပန်းခရိုင်ယဉ်ကျေးမှု ကောင်စီဥက္ကဋ္ဌနှင့် လန်ပန်းခရိုင် အစိုးရရုံးများမှ တာဝန်ရှိသူများ၊ လန်ပန်းရာဂျဘတ်တက္ကသိုလ်မှ တာဝန်ရှိသူများနှင့် မြန်မာကျောင်းသား/ကျောင်းသူများနှင့် လန်ပန်းမြို့တွင် လွန်ခဲ့သော ရာစုနှစ် များစွာကပင် အခြေချနေထိုင်ခဲ့ကြသည့် မြန်မာနိုင်ငံသားများ၏ အဆက်အနွယ် မြန်မာနွယ်ဖွား ထိုင်း နိုင်ငံသားများလည်း ပါဝင်တက်ရောက်ခဲ့ပါသည်။

ကောင်စစ်ဝန်ချုပ်သည် ၂၈-၂-၂၀၂၆ ရက် ညနေပိုင်းတွင် ဃနာနို့ဆွမ်းဆက်ကပ်လှူဒါန်းပွဲ ဖွင့်ပွဲအခမ်းအနားသို့ အထူးဧည့်သည်တော်အဖြစ် တက်ရောက်ခဲ့ပါသည်။

အခမ်းအနားအပြီးတွင် ကောင်စစ်ဝန်ချုပ်က လန်ပန်းခရိုင်ရှိ မြန်မာနွယ်ဖွားများနှင့် လန်ပန်းရာဂျဘတ်တက္ကသိုလ်မှ တာဝန် ရှိသူတစ်ဦးနှင့် ပညာသင်ကြားနေသည့် မြန်မာနိုင်ငံသား ကျောင်းသား/ကျောင်းသူများနှင့် တွေ့ဆုံခဲ့ ပြီး မြန်မာကောင်စစ်ဝန်ချုပ်ရုံး၊ ချင်းမိုင်မြို့အနေဖြင့် ထိုင်းနိုင်ငံ၊ မြောက်ပိုင်းခရိုင်များတွင် ရောက်ရှိ နေသည့် မြန်မာနိုင်ငံသားများနှင့်ပတ်သက်၍ ဆောင်ရွက်ပေးနေသည့်ကိစ္စရပ်များကို ရှင်းလင်း ပြောကြားခဲ့ပြီး လိုအပ်ပါက မြန်မာကောင်စစ်ဝန်ချုပ်ရုံးသို့ အချိန်မရွေး ဆက်သွယ်ဆောင်ရွက်နိုင်ပါကြောင်း ပြောကြားခဲ့ပါသည်။

U Min Kyaw Linn, the Consul-General of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in Chiang Mai, attended the “Poi Tang Khao Somtor” Offering Ceremony and Cultural Festival (2026) held in Mueang Lampang District, Lampang Province. The event took place from 28 February 2026 to 1 March 2026. Supported by the Ministry of Culture of Thailand, the festival was organized through the collaboration of the Lampang Municipality, the Lampang Cultural Council, and the Myanmar community in Lampang.

The event aimed to preserve Myanmar-style pagodas, stupas, and monasteries, while promoting and rediscovering the traditions of the Myanmar community that settled in Lampang during the reign of King Chulalongkorn (Rama V). This marks the second time the festival has been held, following the inaugural event in January 2024.

The ceremony was attended by the Governor of Lampang Province, the Mayor of Lampang Municipality, the President of the Lampang Cultural Council, senior government officials, responsible persons from Lampang Rajabhat University and Myanmar students studying there and Thai nationals of Myanmar descent whose ancestors settled in Lampang over a century ago.

As a special guest, the Consul-General attended the opening ceremony on the evening of 28 February. Following the event, he met with a responsible person from Lampang Rajabhat University and Myanmar students studying there, as well as other members of the Myanmar community in Lampang.

During the meeting, the Consul-General explained the consular services provided to Myanmar citizens residing in Northern Thailand and emphasized that the Consulate-General remains open to assist the community at any time.

At 5:30 AM on 1 March 2026, the Consul-General attended the ceremonial washing and cleaning of the face of the replica Mahamuni Buddha Image (from Mandalay) and offered flowers, water, lights, and rice porridge. Following this, alongside the Governor and the Mayor of Lampang, the Consul-General offered alms-food and offering trees (Padaytha Pin) to the monks. The congregation then listened to Paritta chants and shared the merits gained from these noble acts.

During this period, all consular services, including passport extensions, will be temporarily unavailable. Services will resume on the next working day as usual.
