- The orderly conduct of local (district and town officers) and parliamentary elections (and by-elections)
- To maintain a free, fair and safe electoral process
- To maintain an updated and accurate electoral roll
- To have an informed community on electoral matters
- To encourage and promote public participation in the democratic process, and
- To provide relevant assistance and support on all electoral matters to electors, polling officials, returning officers, and candidates.

The Tonga Electoral Commission is seeking qualified citizens to join our team as Electoral Roll & IT Manager – a key role to strengthen our technical capacity and secure the integrity of the Electoral Roll.

📍 Position: Electoral Roll & IT Manager
📅 Commencement: 1 July 2026
👷‍♂️👩‍🏭 Staff: will be Contract Employment
💲 Retirement: Retirement Fund Board (RFB)
💰 Salary: Band J - Negotiable based on experience & qualifications.

✅ Essential Requirements:

· Degree or Post-Graduate Diploma in IT, Computer Science, Data Management, Administration, or related field
· Minimum 3 years’ experience in IT systems / database / network management
· SQL database & system configuration skills
· Experience managing websites & social media (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X)
· Fluent in English and Tongan (written & spoken)

🌟 Desirable: Data protection, cybersecurity, data integration, public communications. Also have a driver's licence.

🇹🇴 Tonga Electoral Commission appoints new Supervisor of Elections the CEO for Tonga Electoral Commission!

The Tonga Electoral Commission is pleased to announce the formal appointment of Mr. Samiuela Vao of Lomaiviti 'Utulau, Tongatapu, as the new Supervisor of Elections and Chief Executive Officer, effective 8th May 2026.

Mr. Vao, 37, had been serving as Acting Supervisor following the retirement of former Supervisor Mr. Pita Vuki. His appointment follows an official selection process.

✅ Key responsibilities include:

*Leading the Electoral Commission's administration

*Executing statutory duties under the Tonga Electoral Act

*Advising the Commissioners on electoral matters

The Board of Commissioners extends its best wishes to Mr. Vao and looks forward to his trustworthy service to God, King and the people of the Kingdom of Tonga.
