The Ministry of Meteorology, Energy, Information, Disaster Management, Environment, Communications, Climate Change and CERT (MEIDECC) today recognised the distinguished service of Mrs. ‘Ana Fakafe’ao-he-Vava Fifita, in an acknowledgement led by the Honourable Prime Minister and Minister for MEIDECC, Lord Fakafanua, as she prepares to retire on Friday, 17 April 2026.
Mrs. Fifita is among the pioneering officers of MEIDECC, having been part of the initial group of staff transferred from the Prime Minister’s Office in 2009 to establish the Ministry of Information & Communication. Her contributions during its formative years were instrumental in strengthening its corporate systems and administrative foundations. She began her service as a junior officer under Corporate Services and was promoted in 2016 to a senior role within the Accounts Division, where she played a key role in supporting financial operations. Her career reflects professionalism, discipline, and commitment to public service. Throughout her tenure, Mrs. Fifita was recognised as “Staff of the Year” on numerous occasions, reflecting her consistent performance and integrity. She is widely respected across the Ministry for her reliability, strong organisational capability, and her support to colleagues.
In acknowledging her service, the Honourable Prime Minister commended Mrs. Fifita longstanding contribution to Government, noting that her work has helped shape the institutional foundation and operational effectiveness of MEIDECC. Her career stands as a testament to the values of dedication, integrity, and service to the people of Tonga.
As she concludes her service, MEIDECC recognises Mrs. Fifita as a valued public servant whose legacy will continue to contribute to the Ministry’s ongoing work. The Ministry extends its sincere appreciation and best wishes to her as she enters retirement.
