READ 💬: Turkey has firmly established itself as a global leader in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), with its Baykar TB2 and heavier platforms proving highly effective in modern conflicts. However, the Turkish defense establishment has recognized that air power alone cannot hold physical ground. Today, the Turkish Armed Forces are actively translating their aerial swarm doctrine into land operations by developing and testing a diverse family of fifteen different Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs) designed to fight, scout, and supply.

This strategic shift aims to create integrated, digitized troops where combat ground robots operate alongside aerial drones in a unified, AI-driven network.

The Concept of Digitized Troops 🔻

At the heart of Turkey's land strategy is the concept of Digital Troops. Instead of treating robotic ground vehicles as independent remote-controlled toys, Turkey's defense sector, led by companies like HAVELSAN and ASELSAN, integrates them into a single command-and-control combat cloud.

Under this doctrine, a soldier on the ground acts as a digital battlefield manager. By coordinating with overhead reconnaissance drones, the soldier can automatically direct ground robots to advance, map hostile territory, and lay down suppressive fire.

This approach minimizes human casualties in high-risk scenarios, such as urban clearing operations and trench breaches, where the first wave of contact can be entirely absorbed by expendable machines.

From Light Scouts to Heavy Wing Tanks 🔻

To cover every potential battlefield role, Turkey's UGV roadmap is divided into light, medium, and heavy classes, spanning fifteen specialized configurations:

📌 The Light and Medium Vanguard (BARKAN Family): Weighing between 400 and 1,000 kilograms, HAVELSAN’s BARKAN series serves as the eyes and ears of the infantry. The latest BARKAN 3 features a highly modular chassis designed to carry light machine guns, gr***de launchers, and even anti-tank guided missiles. It operates autonomously, using LIDAR sensors to plan its route and avoid obstacles without relying on a GPS signal.

📌 The Heavy Combat Support (KAPGAN): Reaching up to 2.4 tonnes, the KAPGAN is a heavy-class, fully electric UGV. It is armed with a heavy 12.7mm machine gun or a 30mm automatic cannon, providing serious fire support during infantry assaults.

📌 The Robotic Wing Tank (ALPAR): Developed by armored vehicle manufacturer Otokar, the ALPAR is a massive, 15-tonne tracked robotic vehicle designed to operate alongside manned main battle tanks. It acts as a heavy reconnaissance or air defense platform, operating silently on its hybrid electric drive.

Swarm Integration and Real-World Tactics 🔻

The ultimate objective of Turkey's UGV strategy is joint swarm capability. During recent field exercises, Turkey demonstrated how its systems communicate directly with each other.

A medium-class aerial drone like the BAHA detects a target, passes the digital coordinates to a ground command center, and automatically designates the target for a BARKAN UGV. The ground robot then maneuvers into firing position and engages the target with its remote weapon station, completely bypassing the need for a human to manually aim or guide the vehicle.

By using fifteen different sizes and types of UGVs, military planners can deploy the exact robotic tool needed for the job, whether it is a small bomb-disposal unit, a medium cargo-carrying mule, or a heavy tank-killer.

Turkey is proving that the future of land warfare lies in the successful teaming of humans and machines. By expanding its famous aerial drone expertise into a structured, fifteen-vehicle ground doctrine, the country is building a highly resilient and lethal combat network. This digital army will protect soldier lives, dominate the modern battlefield, and cement Turkey's position as a global powerhouse in military robotics.

The "MIZRAK Smart Loitering Munition," developed by Baykar, has garnered significant attention in the Israeli press. Distinguished by its range exceeding 1000 kilometers and its AI-powered autonomous capabilities, the system is being closely monitored in terms of regional balances.

**EMPHASIS ON "1000 KM RANGE WEAPON"**

Tel Aviv-based Nziv, in its article titled "1000 km range weapon: Turkey raises the threat level for Israel," stated:

"Turkish company Baykar has introduced Ankara's groundbreaking new munition called MIZRAK. This munition represents a significant advancement in Türkiye's military capabilities and has strategic implications for the region

OPERATIONAL DEPTH STRATEGY

The article highlighted MIZRAK's range exceeding 1000 kilometers and its flight time of 7+ .

"This development is part of Türkiye's 'operational depth' strategy, which aims to conduct precision strikes far beyond its borders without needing manned fighter jets or forward bases. New systems like the MIZRAK and K2 kamikaze UAVs seem designed to change the face of asymmetric warfare and solidify Türkiye's strong influence in the Middle East and Africa."

"ISRAEL WITHIN DIRECT RANGE" ASSESSMENT

Israeli media claimed that this move by Türkiye in the defense industry increases the threat level:

"If properly positioned, within a range of 1,000 km, the entirety of Israel falls within Türkiye's direct strike range."

EMPHASIS ON ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND SWARM TECHNOLOGY

The news report highlighted the system's AI-powered navigation capabilities, making the following assessment:

"It would be very difficult for the Israeli army to counter such technology. The Turks could render the Iron Dome defenseless with swarm technology. Considering that Baykar is the world's largest UAV exporter, the fact that countries hostile to Tel Aviv possess these systems could become a difficult knot for us to untangle."
