The bridge that comes from Sweden turns into a tunnel under the sea and reappears in Denmark; both countries united by this wonderful work of Engineering.

It has a total length of 16 kilometers and connects Denmark with Sweden through the Øresund Strait. The Oresund Bridge was built in 2000 and allows the passage of cars (highway) and trains between Denmark and Sweden. Before its construction, all traffic between the two countries was carried out by ferry.

Three different American wars are represented within this single photograph.

A veteran of World War I attends the dedication ceremony of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in 1982 while holding the folded American flag that had draped the coffin of his son, who was killed during the Korean War in 1951.

This is the deepest purpose of tradition.

It reminds us that one father's grief becomes part of a nation's shared memory. It teaches future generations that the peace enjoyed by society was secured through the sacrifices of men and women whose burdens can never be fully understood by those who never carried them.

A folded flag. A military uniform. A memorial. The face of a grieving father.

This is how a nation preserves the memory of the price paid for its peace.

Paris’ “Pissoirs” and Urban Sanitation, 1875.

In 1875, Paris introduced a novel urban feature—the pissoir, or public urinal—to combat sanitation issues in the rapidly expanding city. These cast-iron fixtures provided a discreet and stylish solution to public hygiene. Decorated with ornate detailing and placed throughout the city, they offered practical convenience while embodying 19th-century ideals of civic improvement through elegant design. Though largely gone today, they reflect an era when functionality and artistic expression went hand-in-hand in city planning.

Al Jahili Fort, located in Al Ain near the border of Oman, was built in 1891 as a protective stronghold for palm groves and a symbol of local authority during times of tribal conflict. Expanded in the early 1900s by Sheikh Zayed I, it remains one of the UAE’s largest and most iconic forts.

Constructed from mudbrick, stone, and palm wood, it features crenelated towers, thick walls, and vaulted interiors—all designed to withstand the harsh desert climate. Its labyrinthine design blends seamlessly with the desert landscape, embodying centuries of adaptation to extreme conditions.

In contrast to modern skyscrapers, Al Jahili Fort endures as a quiet, dignified symbol of resilience and regional identity.
