The Republic of Türkiye has expressed its sympathy and signed the Book of Condolences opened at the Embassy of the Republic of Zambia in Ankara following the passing of Zambia’s former Vice-President, Dr. Guy Lindsay Scott.
The Book of Condolences was signed by Mr. Yönt C. Tezel, Acting Director General for Southern and Multilateral Africa at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, on behalf of the Ministry.

In his message, Mr. Tezel conveyed Türkiye’s deepest condolences to the family of the late Dr. Scott, as well as to the Government and people of the Republic of Zambia. He also paid tribute to Dr. Scott’s valuable contribution to Zambia, noting that his service to the country would always be remembered.
He further expressed heartfelt sympathy to all those mourning the late Dr. Scott and prayed that his soul rests in eternal peace.

The Honorary Consul of the Republic of Zambia in Gaziantep, Ms. Özlem Işık, signed the Book of Condolences opened at the Embassy of the Republic of Zambia in Ankara in honour of the late Dr. Guy Lindsay Scott, former Vice-President of the Republic of Zambia.

Ms. Işık extended her deepest condolences to the people of Zambia and paid tribute to Dr. Scott’s legacy of service, leadership and dedication to the nation.

“May his family, friends and the people of Zambia find strength, comfort and peace during this difficult time,” she wrote.

BOOK OF CONDOLENCES OPENED IN HONOUR OF THE LATE DR. GUY LINDSAY SCOTT

The Embassy of the Republic of Zambia in Ankara has opened a Book of Condolences following the death of Zambia’s former Vice-President, Dr. Guy Lindsay Scott, on 15 July 2026 at the age of 82.

Dr. Scott served as Vice-President of the Republic of Zambia from 2011 to 2014 and later as Acting President following the passing of Zambia’s Fifth Republican President, Mr. Michael Chilufya Sata, in 2014.

Zambian Speaker Arrives in Ankara for Official Parliamentary Engagements

Ankara, Türkiye – The Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia, Rt. Hon. Dr. Nelly B. K. Mutti, MP, arrived in Ankara, Türkiye, yesterday for an official visit aimed at strengthening parliamentary cooperation and enhancing bilateral relations between Zambia and Türkiye.

Upon arrival at Ankara Esenboğa Airport, the Speaker and her delegation were received by Zambia’s Ambassador to Türkiye, H.E. Lt. Gen. Dr. William M. Sikazwe (Rtd.), and Mr. Durmuş Ali Keskinkılıç, Member of Parliament for Karabük and Chairperson of the Türkiye–Zambia Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group.

During the visit, Rt. Hon. Dr. Mutti and her delegation are expected to engage with Turkish parliamentary leaders and other key stakeholders to explore opportunities for enhanced cooperation, knowledge exchange, and stronger institutional partnerships between the two countries.

The visit reflects the warm and growing relations between Zambia and Türkiye and underscores the shared commitment of both nations to advancing parliamentary diplomacy, mutual understanding, and sustainable development.
