As Amsterdam hosts WorldPride 2026 (25 July–8 August), the Netherlands celebrates three milestones:

🌍 30 years of Pride Amsterdam
🏳️‍🌈 80 years of COC Netherlands, one of the world’s oldest LGBTQIA+ organisations
💍 25 years since the Netherlands became the first country to legalise same-sex marriage

These anniversaries reflect the progress that can be achieved when people, communities and institutions work together to advance equal rights and inclusion.

WorldPride is more than a celebration. It is a global gathering that reaffirms that human rights belong to everyone. When we protect each other’s rights and freedoms, we strengthen our societies and our democracies.

Future Husband is representing the Netherlands at Sound of Europe 5! 🇳🇱

Future Husband is a band of songwriters and multi-instrumentalists, offering a cinematic fusion of synth-pop, neo-soul and indie rock. Built on years of friendship, they bring a raw and captivating energy to every performance.

After independently releasing their debut single “Terra” and making an impression at Eurosonic Noorderslag, Future Husband shared their first album “Confused Kids” with audiences in 2025. They are now set to meet music lovers at the Sound of Europe Festival, with performances in three cities across Türkiye:

NATO standing together for collective defense and support for Ukraine 💪

The world has become more unstable. Russia’s war against Ukraine and growing hybrid and cyber threats show that our security as NATO Allies can never be taken for granted. That is why, over the last two days at the NATO Summit in Ankara, the Netherlands has focused on strengthening NATO’s collective deterrence and defense, while helping Europe take greater responsibility for our shared security.

In Ankara, the Netherlands has:
- strengthened defence cooperation with partners, including a major new maritime project with the United Kingdom;
- supported modernisation of NATO’s air and missile defence, together with several Allies;
- worked to boost European production and maintenance of key air defence systems that help protect Allied territory and support Ukraine.

All these steps have one goal: a stronger, more resilient NATO, a stronger Europe, and greater security for all Allies.

Solidarity between Allies remains the foundation of our security. The Netherlands stands ready to shoulder this responsibility together with all NATO partners.

Last week, the Chief of Defence of the Netherlands, General Onno Eichelsheim, visited Türkiye. His visit underlines how important Türkiye is for European and NATO security, including the Netherlands.

Türkiye has a strategic position between Europe, the Black Sea and the Middle East, and a fast-developing defence industry. At the same time, the war in Ukraine, and continuing tensions in the Middle East show how closely our security is connected.

In Ankara, General Eichelsheim met his Turkish counterpart, General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu, to discuss:
- Strengthening military-to-military cooperation between our countries
- Joint trainings and exercises, so our forces can work together more effectively in crises
- Exchanging lessons from the war in Ukraine, especially on ammunition production, innovation and defence industrial capacity
- Opportunities for cooperation with Türkiye’s defence industry, where Europe and Türkiye can learn from each other

For the Netherlands, Türkiye is an indispensable NATO Ally on the Alliance’s south-eastern flank. Practical cooperation, interoperability, and mutual trust between our armed forces are essential to keep NATO credible and ready to act when it matters.

Bilateral trade, the circular economy and the road towards COP31 🇹🇷🤝🇳🇱

Just some of the themes discussed during the 6th session of the annual Joint Economic and Trade Committee (JETCO) between Türkiye and the Netherlands. For over 400 years, our two countries have maintained official trading relations, and we keep continuing to look towards the future together.

Taking place in The Hague, Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Sjoerd Sjoerdsma, together with his Turkish counterpart, Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat, hosted numerous Turkish and Dutch businesses during this session. Listening to their inquiries, JETCO provides a platform where both our governments listen to companies and work on concrete solutions together.

From maritime cooperation and infrastructure to logistics, defense and innovative technologies, the 6th session highlighted how broad and interconnected our economic ties have become, and how much potential still remains to deepen this partnership in the years ahead.

NATO brings together 32 Allies committed to protecting peace, security and stability. As long-standing Allies, the Netherlands and Türkiye work closely together within the Alliance to address shared security challenges.

Following the NATO Summit in The Hague in 2025, Türkiye will host Allied leaders in Ankara in 2026. This is an opportunity to continue strengthening Allied unity, enhancing collective defence, supporting Ukraine, fighting terrorism and building a stronger NATO for the future.
