On January 21, 2026, H.E. Aden Houssein Abdillahi, Ambassador of the Republic of Djibouti, paid an official visit to Mr. Uğur İbrahim Altay, Mayor of Konya Metropolitan Municipality.

During the meeting, fruitful discussions were held regarding our enduring "Sister City" relationship. Both parties explored new avenues for cooperation and discussed potential joint projects to further strengthen the bond between Djibouti and Konya. He held productive discussions with Administrative Authorities on potential joint school projects in Djibouti and met strategically with Rector Prof. Dr. İhsan Sabuncuoğlu.

H.E. Aden Houssein Abdillahi, Ambassador of the Republic of Djibouti to Türkiye, attended the Opening Ceremony of the 2025–2026 Academic Year of Higher Education, held on October 9, 2025, at the Presidential Complex in Ankara.

In his keynote address, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan highlighted the recent ceasefire agreement in Gaza, Türkiye’s vision of becoming a global leader in international education, its ongoing efforts in digital transformation and university–industry cooperation, and the expanding role of international students in Turkish higher education.

The Embassy of Djibouti closely follows Türkiye’s remarkable progress in the field of higher education and reaffirms its commitment to strengthening cooperation between Djibouti and Turkey in education, science, and culture.

H.E. Aden Houssein Abdillahi, the Ambassador of Djibouti in Ankara, visited Mr. Ahmet BÜYÜKGÜMÜŞ, the Deputy Chairman and Head of the AK Party Organization, and Mr. Mustafa ALKAYIŞ, the Deputy Chairman of the AK Party Organization.
