SIS - Secretariat for the Implementation of Spanish The Secretariat for the Implementation of Spanish (SIS) is a division of the Ministry of Education (MOE).

Our aim is to fulfill the goals outlined in the Spanish As the First Foreign Language (SAFFL) initiative. The Secretariat for the Implementation of Spanish or SIS was formed under Cabinet Directive on September 9th 2004 and formally launched on March 22nd 2005. The Unit was specifically created to drive the Spanish As the First Foreign Language (SAFFL) initiative or more simply stated, to lay the

necessary foundation to take SAFFL from vision to reality. It is the tangible recognition of Trinidad and Tobago’s need to respond, in a practical way, to the indisputable reality that this country is located in a hemisphere in which the majority of the population is Spanish–speaking. This initiative is designed to ensure that the people of Trinidad and Tobago understand and or speak the language that is increasingly driving economic pursuits, educational opportunities, cultural, sporting and social interactions both designed to benefit the nation and its citizenry. SIS serves as an advisor, mentor, teacher and resource base for stakeholders. These include the Private and Public Sectors, Universities, Colleges, Civil Society, the nation’s Communities and individuals interested in learning Spanish and the cultural dynamics associated with the peoples and countries of these Spanish speaking nations.

A special thank you to Spanish teacher, Miss Vishana Bally-Mohamme,d for organizing the day's events. 👏

Also in attendance was Mr. Dev Pooma, Curriculum Coordinator (Ag.) Modern Languages, Curriculum Planning & Development Division.

Students were treated to a variety of activities including a cooking/tiktok session, kahoot games, movies, dance and much more!!🎊🎊
