Regional corporations across Trinidad and Tobago are coordinating a nationwide relief effort to assist communities in Venezuela affected by a recent earthquake, with emergency supplies being collected, sorted and prepared for shipment.
The initiative, led through the Ministry of Rural Development and Local Government, brings together donations from non-governmental organisations, private businesses and members of the public.

With the official start of the 2026 Hurricane Season on June 1st, the Disaster Management Unit (DMU) of the Diego Martin Borough Corporation (DMBC) has commenced the removal of bushfire warning signs across the borough and the installation of hurricane awareness signs in preparation for the season ahead.

We urge all residents to stay informed, remain prepared, and take the necessary steps to protect their families and properties throughout the hurricane season.

On Thursday, the Disaster Management Unit (DMU) of the Diego Martin Borough Corporation conducted a Shelter Activation Simulation Exercise aimed at testing and strengthening emergency shelter operations and response procedures during a hurricane event.

The exercise focused on shelter activation, inter-agency coordination, evacuee registration and management, communication systems, and handling real-life emergency challenges.

A huge thank you to all participating agencies, volunteers, CERT members, and staff who contributed to the successful ex*****on of this important preparedness initiative. Together, we continue building a safer and more resilient community. 🌪️🏠🚨
