The St. James Police Youth Club, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), proudly concluded the Mind In Motion Mental Health Programme: Building Mental Health Through Expression & Skill with a heartfelt Graduation & Closing Ceremony.

Over the past several weeks, our participants embarked on a transformative journey of self-discovery, resilience, creativity, and emotional growth. What began as a mental health initiative blossomed into a safe space where young people found their voices, built lasting connections, and gained valuable skills to support their overall well-being. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿง 

The ceremony was a fitting celebration of every participantโ€™s commitment and perseverance over the past 13 sessions. Through inspiring reflections, the presentation of certificates, and the support of parents, facilitators, partners, and invited guests, we were reminded that investing in the mental health of our youth is one of the greatest investments we can make in our communities.

Our โ€œCommunity Championsโ€ Vacation Camp 2026 came to a spectacular close with our African Emancipation Day Celebration, Pageant Show & Closing Ceremony, showcasing the incredible confidence, creativity, culture, and talent of our campers.

Over the past three weeks, our young people have grown in leadership, teamwork, discipline, confidence, and character. ๐ŸŽญ We were delighted to welcome Aunty Jay, who captivated everyone with a fun-filled Puppet Presentation. Through creativity, storytelling, and laughter, our campers were reminded of the importance of positive values, kindness, and making good choices.

๐Ÿš” We also extend our sincere appreciation to the Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service, whose officers delivered an informative and engaging presentation on the role and responsibilities of Prison Officers. Campers gained valuable insight into the profession while learning about discipline, rehabilitation, public service, and the many career opportunities within the organization.

Week 3 was another incredible chapter of our camp journey, filled with education, hands-on experiences, discovery, and community engagement.

๐Ÿš” Monday & Tuesday: Officers of the TTPS Traffic & Highway Patrol Branch facilitated an engaging two-day Road Safety Workshop, equipping campers with valuable knowledge on road safety, traffic awareness, and responsible behaviour. One of the highlights was the opportunity for campers to experience the TTPS police motorcycle, making the learning experience both educational and memorable.

๐Ÿฆท Wednesday: Jeremiah Fergusson delivered an interactive session on Dentistry, where campers enthusiastically participated, asked insightful questions, and learned the importance of maintaining good oral health.

๐Ÿš’ Thursday: The Trinidad & Tobago Fire Service (TTFS) visited the camp for a special presentation on the vital role and responsibilities of Fire Officers. Campers then had the exciting opportunity to operate a real fire hose, giving them a firsthand appreciation of the dedication, teamwork, and courage required in the fire service.

Every activity throughout the week was designed to inspire curiosity, build confidence, and expose our campers to careers and life skills that encourage responsible citizenship and personal growth. Through meaningful interactions with professionals and engaging practical experiences, our campers continued to develop into true Community Champions.

The Mind In Motion Mental Health Programme continued with two meaningful sessions, extending the conversation on mental wellbeing from our young people to the families and communities that support them.

๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘ง Session Nine: โ€œParenting with Purpose โ€” Raising Children Who Feel Seen, Heard & Lovedโ€ was a special parent-only session facilitated by Mr. Yohance Ayodike, Founder of IODK Consultancy. Parents and guardians explored the importance of communication, connection, understanding, and creating supportive spaces where young people feel valued and heard.

๐ŸŒฟ Session Ten: โ€œMindfulness, Grounding & Emotional Regulationโ€ was held at the Ministry of Homeland Security, Policy & Community Support Office (PACSO)โ€™s Headquarters where participants engaged in meaningful activities and discussions focused on staying present, managing emotions, and developing healthy ways to navigate challenging moments. The session also featured an address from the Permanent Secretary of Homeland Security, Dr. Wilson Henderson Jr., making the experience especially memorable for our participants. Other prominent speakers included Resident Representative for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Multi-Country Office (MCO), Ugo Blanco, Acting Deputy Commissioner of Prisons (DCP, Ag.) Ricardo Dass, and ASP Wayne Stanley.

Together, Sessions 9 & 10 reinforced the importance of support, self-awareness, emotional wellbeing, and healthy connections in building stronger futures for our young people.

๐ŸคMonday: Global Peace Ambassador Lylah G. Persad led an inspiring Peace Workshop, encouraging our campers to embrace peace and unity.

๐ŸŽจ Tuesday: Zerina George brought the creativity with an exciting Tie-Dye Session!

๐Ÿ† Wednesday & Thursday: Our campers battled it out through Inter-Group Competitions and engaging in-house activities, putting their teamwork, energy, and skills to the test!

๐ŸŒ Friday: We wrapped up an unforgettable week with Youths of Purpose (YOP) at Nelson Mandela Park, celebrating youth, culture, unity, and community, where we had the anticipated โ€œYouth Fusion 2026โ€!
