On behalf of the National Theatre Arts Company of Trinidad and Tobago, we extend our deepest condolences on the passing of Eunice Alleyne. Eunice was a remarkable woman whose contributions to both the cultural and public spheres of Trinidad and Tobago will never be forgotten. Born in Venezuela and raised in Trinidad, Eunice’s remarkable career spanned both the arts and public service. From her work in radio and as Director of Information at the Office of the Prime Minister to her academic pursuits at Boston University, Eunice exemplified dedication and passion in everything she did.
Her love for the theatre, nurtured from a young age, led her to become a Cacique award-winning actress and founding member of the Trinidad Theatre Workshop, where she worked alongside the legendary Derek Walcott. She performed in numerous plays and toured internationally, leaving a lasting mark on the regional and global cultural landscape.
Eunice’s legacy as an artist and public servant will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of working with her and witnessing her extraordinary talent and commitment. Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.
