The Borough of Diego Martin has a population of 105,720 (2000 population census). The Borough of Diego Martin shares its eastern boundary with both the Port of Spain City Region and the San Juan-Lavantille Region. The council and staff of the Borough Corporation serve the people that live within these boundaries and are responsive to the concerns that they all share. The Diego Martin Borough Corporation is accountable to the Ministry of Local Government of Trinidad and Tobago.

Honouring Those Who Serve Our Community

On Thursday 30th July 2026, the Diego Martin Borough Corporation proudly hosted its 3rd Annual Civic Awards Ceremony, a special invitation-only event celebrating outstanding individuals whose selfless service has made a lasting impact on our Borough.

Awardees were nominated by Burgesses in recognition of their commitment to volunteerism, leadership, community development, and unwavering service to the Borough of Diego Martin.

The ceremony was attended by Her Worship The Mayor, Alderman Akeliah Glasgow-Warner, alongside DMBC Councillors, The Honourable Penelope Beckles-Robinson, M.P., Leader of the Opposition, as well as fellow Chairmen, Councillors, and representatives from local government bodies, all of whom gathered to celebrate the exceptional contributions of this year's honourees.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all our award recipients. Your contributions continue to inspire and remind us that the strength of our Borough lies in the people who serve it with passion and purpose.

Earlier this month, officers of the Diego Martin Municipal Police Station, in collaboration with the San Juan Municipal Police Station, conducted a joint road traffic exercise within the Diego Martin Borough.

The exercise was spearheaded by W/ASP Castellano and coordinated by W/ASP Stewart-Innis, under the supervision of W/Inspector Smith-Douglas, W/Inspector Dick, and No. 12124 W/Sgt Joseph, together with a dedicated team of officers.

The operation focused on promoting road safety, encouraging compliance with the nation's traffic laws, and maintaining a visible law enforcement presence throughout the district. During the exercise, officers engaged motorists, carried out routine traffic checks, conducted stop-and-search procedures where necessary, and took appropriate enforcement action in accordance with the law.

The Diego Martin Borough Corporation commends the officers for their professionalism and continued commitment to keeping our communities and roadways safe. We remain committed to supporting initiatives that promote public safety and responsible road use for the benefit of all.

The Corporation convened its Finance Planning and Allocation of Resources, Regional Coordinating, and Statutory Committee meetings, where members engaged in thoughtful deliberations on matters central to the Corporation’s operations and future direction. These meetings serve as a cornerstone of good governance, supporting transparent decision-making, prudent financial management, coordinated planning, and the effective use of public resources to enhance service delivery and improve the quality of life across the borough.
