Oh, Carnival how we miss you!
What would have been a fun and festive time on the streets of Port of Spain today was put to a halt due to the COVID19 Pandemic, but it wasn't going to stop the individual spirit of the people of Trinidad and Tobago.
Today we saw the Mayor of San Fernando, His Worship, Alderman Junia Regrello come out in his Fancy Indian Costume but in the Capital City, Port of Spain, His Worship, Alderman Joel Martinez came out, in his own words to "play ah mas!" as Saga Boy looking for a Tan Tan.

The TTPS Mounted Branch horses caused quite a stir in downtown Port-of-Spain this morning. The 18 horses patrolled the City before they returned to their headquarters in St James. While the horses had no Carnival duties, their handlers gave them the much-needed exercises. The exercise today was spearheaded by Supt Geoffrey Hospedales.

One may think that the relationship between Trinidad and Tobago and the Republic of Turkey would be lifeless because of their geographical locations, but this is not the case, the Republic of Turkey's outreach policies towards Latin American and Caribbean countries have been around since 1998 and was revised in 2006.
Trinidad and Tobago have shared good economic and trade relationships with Turkey for over 50 years and has an embassy in the capital city Port of Spain since 2018.
Turkish Ambassador to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Her Excellency Bengรผ Yigitgรผden, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, and the Third Secretary, Ms. Melis Altuntas paid a courtesy call to His Worship, Alderman Joel Martinez, Mayor of Port of Spain yesterday and presented him with a small token and indulged in discussions about the benefits of the possible twinning of cities and the development of cultural interactions between the two countries.

His Worship, Alderman Joel Martinez, Mayor of Port of Spain would like to thank all the artists, corporate sponsors, and Michelle Heart of Savvy Solutions for bringing such a creative concept to the city of Port of Spain.
The "FIRST: a drive-thru art exhibition" project was well received and brought a beautiful ambiance to Ariapita Avenue and Tragarete Road, it also allowed the local artist to showcase their talent during this pandemic that has affected so many worldwide and brought many things to a halt, including our 2021 Carnival celebrations, but the artistic expression and culture of Trinidad and Tobago will always prevail and bring joy and happiness to our citizens.

The way to get things done is not to mind who gets the credit for doing them but when progress is made credit should be given.
One of the first highlights mentioned in this month's Statutory Meeting was by the Chairman of the Public Health Committee, Councillor for St.James East, Jameel Bisnath as he commended the improvement made by the administration to complete cleansing projects within the city of Port of Spain, another prominent accomplishment made in January 2021 was the lighting of the recently restored Cenotaph at Memorial Park.
The development and advancement of the city was an important topic of discussion for the month as we look forward to ventures such as the pedestrianization of Charlotte Street (China Town), the revitalization of Broadway, and the starting of the UNESCO Creative City of Music project.
His Worship, Alderman Joel Martinez, Mayor of Port of Spain also invited Council to celebrate and acknowledge the recent conferment of an Honorary Doctorate awarded to a son of the soil Len "Boogsie" Sharpe, this was met with a great congratulatory round of applause.
