Throwback Thursday to a day of recognition and celebration for our interns and in-service trainees who spent time learning, growing and gaining valuable experience at the Office of the Attorney General.

From taking on new experiences to putting their knowledge into practice, they had the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals, contribute to the work of the Office and build skills for the road ahead.

We were happy to celebrate their hard work, commitment and contributions, while sending them off with a reminder to carry forward the values of integrity, professionalism and purpose.

Here’s to the lessons learnt, the memories made, and the next chapter ahead. Keep learning, keep growing and keep striving for excellence!

The Trinidad and Tobago Cyber Security Incident Response Team (TT-CSIRT), which operates under the Ministry of Homeland Security, conducted a sensitisation session on the Secure Use of AI. The session was facilitated by Mr. Anish Bachu, Director of TT-CSIRT and Mr Rick Logan of TT-CSIRT. UWI law interns and Hugh Wooding In-Service Trainees at the Office of the Attorney General, as well as other members of staff, attended the session.

As the use of AI tools continues to populate various aspects of society and the modern workplace, their growing relevance to the legal profession is also becoming increasingly apparent. As such, the session was designed for legal professionals who utilise AI and need to understand how cybersecurity considerations shape safe, compliant, and confidential AI-assisted work. It will introduce core cybersecurity principles and highlight key risks associated with AI use, including data leakage, prompt-based attacks, and misuse of sensitive or confidential client information.

The Office of the Attorney General is pleased to have partnered with the Commonwealth Secretariat and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) CARICOM Regional Office to host a Working Session on the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) from 3rd-5th August 2026 in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.

The working session was intended to support International Law Officers in strengthening their understanding of the United Nations human rights system, reporting obligations and implementation progress, and developing practical strategies to advance national reports. During this meeting, staff within the units under the Administrator General (International Law and Treaties) received training in strengthening technical capacity in relation to drafting core international human rights reports to which Trinidad and Tobago is a party. Officers gained a clearer understanding of their respective roles in reporting, implementation and follow-up; increased technical knowledge of review mechanisms and treaty body procedures. Participants benefitted from a mock UPR interactive dialogue which offered practical experience in presenting the national position on advancing various human rights protections.
