The European Union Delegation celebrates Emancipation Day; we commemorate the enduring legacy of Emancipation and honour the resilience, culture and invaluable contributions of people of African descent to Trinidad and Tobago's national development.

EU Ambassador H.E. Cécile Tassin was also privileged to join Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, the Honourable Sean Sobers, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, and other Government officials at the African Emancipation Day 2026 Commemorative Event at the Diplomatic Centre.

EU Ambassador , H.E. Cécile Tassin was honoured to join the Honourable Minister of Justice, Devesh Maharaj, and the Deputy Director of the EU-funded programme EL PAcCTO 2.0, Nuno Costa, at the opening ceremony of the regional workshop on The Role of Women in Organised Crime in the Caribbean. They were also joined by the Spanish Ambassador H.E. Cristina Pérez Gutiérrez.

Through EL PAcCTO 2.0, the European Union and its Member States are proud to contribute to stronger justice cooperation and more effective responses to transnational organised crime across the Caribbean, grounded in partnership and respect for rights.

🇹🇹🤝🇪🇺 A major step towards a safer digital future!
Ambassador Cécile Tassin was delighted to join the Honourable Roger Alexander, Minister of Homeland Security, for the official signing ceremony marking Trinidad and Tobago's membership in LAC4 – the Latin America and Caribbean Cyber Competence Centre.
Funded by the European Union, LAC4 serves as the region's hub for cybersecurity and cybercrime training, knowledge-sharing, and technical cooperation, helping countries strengthen their resilience against evolving digital threats.
During the ceremony, Minister Alexander thanked the European Union, noting that joining LAC4 is "not just another international initiative, but a commitment to protecting the people of Trinidad and Tobago, securing the nation's digital future, and strengthening partnerships that make everyone safer."
