La Segunda Jefatura de la Embajada🇪🇸, Diego Calatayud, asistió el pasado martes 23 de junio a la inauguración del taller COPOLAD III🇪🇺 que se celebró en Puerto España🇹🇹 con la participación de FIAP, representada por Laura Mula Gallego🇪🇸.

El taller sirvió para presentar el Toolkit y realizar el lanzamiento inicial para la implementación de las Comisiones de Disuasión en Trinidad y Tobago, cuyo objetivo principal es apoyar la puesta en marcha de este mecanismo como alternativa a la respuesta penal tradicional para infracciones menores relacionadas con dr**as.

Durante el taller se presentaron los resultados de los estudios diagnósticos (legislativo, estadístico y penitenciario), así como el modelo operativo propuesto, inspirado en experiencias internacionales y adaptado al contexto del país.


The Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy🇪🇸, Diego Calatayud, attended the opening of the COPOLAD III🇪🇺 workshop on Tuesday 23 June in Port of Spain🇹🇹, with FIAP represented by Laura Mula Gallego🇪🇸.

The workshop served to present the Toolkit and mark the initial launch of the implementation of the Deterrence Commissions in Trinidad and Tobago, the main objective of which is to support the roll-out of this mechanism as an alternative to the traditional criminal justice response for minor drug-related offences.

During the workshop, the results of the diagnostic studies (legislative, statistical and prison-related) were presented, along with the proposed operational model, which draws on international experience and has been adapted to the country’s context.

Exploraron las posibilidades de colaboración para el desarrollo de esta parte importante de la cultura.

España se ha consolidado como un referente internacional en la preservación del patrimonio historial y está dispuesta a apoyar los esfuerzos de Trinidad y Tobago.

Ayer, la segunda jefatura de la Embajada, Sr. Diego Calatayud tuvo la oportunidad de hablar con estudiantes que participaron en un taller de producción de películas, parte de la celebración del Festival de Cine Europeo en Trinidad y Tobago.

Los estudiantes también tuvieron la oportunidad de disfrutar de una película, "Mortadelo y Filemón contra Jimmy el Cachondo".

España se siente mucho orgullo en animar a futuros productores, demostrando su compromiso al desarrollo de jóvenes en todo el mundo.

En el marco de la promoción del español durante los días siguientes al 23 de abril, la embajada promovió la participación del autor hispanovenezolano Adalber Salas Hernández en el BocasLitFest, festival de referencia en el Caribe anglófono, que reúne a autores, editoriales, críticos, agentes y demás autoridades literarias del Caribe y del resto del mundo. Adalber participó en tres segmentos:

📍Una conversación con la autora colombiana🇨🇴 Cristina Bendek en la que, junto con Nicolas Laughlin, repasaron sus últimas publicaciones (Isolario y Los cristales de sal) y sus vínculos comunes con el deseo, la pérdida o la identidad en entornos isleños.

📍El taller de traducción "Traducciones caníbales", con el objetivo de acercarse a traducciones híbridas en las que las traducciones de textos literarios permeen la voz tanto del autor como del traductor.
📍Una mesa redonda con el académico alemán Mario Laarmann🇩🇪 y el traductor polaco Bartosz Wójcik sobre las posibilidades de traducción de la literatura caribeña. El acto fue presentado por la embajadora Pérez Gutiérrez 🇪🇸

As part of its efforts to promote the Spanish language in the days following 23 April, the embassy organised the participation of the Venezuelan-Spanish author Adalber Salas Hernández at BocasLitFest, the leading festival in the English-speaking Caribbean that brings together authors, publishers, critics, agents and other literary figures from the Caribbean and the rest of the world. Adalber took part in three sessions:
📍A conversation with the Colombian author Cristina Bendek in which, together with Nicolas Laughlin, they discussed their latest publications (Isolario and Los cristales de sal) and their shared themes of desire, loss and identity in island settings.
📍The translation workshop ‘Cannibal Translations’, aimed at exploring hybrid translations in which the translation of literary texts permeates the voice of both the author and the translator.
📍A round-table discussion with German academic Mario Laarmann🇩🇪 and Polish translator Bartosz Wójcik on the possibilities of translating Caribbean literature. The event was presented by Ambassador Pérez
