Fraudulent TTPS Document Circulating Online

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) wishes to warn members of the public about the existence of a fraudulent document, currently being circulated via email, falsely claiming to originate from the Cyber and Social Media Unit (CSMU) of the TTPS and the Trinidad and Tobago Cybersecurity Incident Response Team (TT-CSIRT).

The document, designed to appear legitimate, bears the official TTPS and TT-CSIRT logos, fraudulent reproductions of the official TTPS and TT-CSIRT stamps, as well as fraudulent signatures, purportedly from the Deputy Commissioner of Police and the Manager of TT-CSIRT.

The letter in question, falsely accuses recipients of criminal activity and threatens immediate legal action, attempting to elicit a response under pressure.

The CSMU is actively investigating this matter and urges members of the public to take the following precautions when using their email accounts:

-Do not open or respond to suspicious or unexpected emails,
-Do not download attachments or click on links from unfamiliar sources,
-Do not provide any personal, financial or sensitive information in response to such messages, and,
-Report any suspicious communications to the nearest police station.

Members of the public are also reminded to verify the authenticity of any communication claiming to be from a Government or law enforcement agency, by contacting the organisation directly, through its official channels.

🇹🇹 Une collaboration en cybersécurité se dessine entre l’Agence Caribéenne pour la Cybersécurité et le TT-CSIRT (TT-CSIRT)

Aujourd’hui, à Trinidad-et-Tobago, une étape importante a été franchie pour la sécurité numérique des régions Caraïbes/Guyane. 🌍

Marie Lucienne RATTIER en tant que Présidente de l’Agence Caribéenne pour la Cybersécurité (ACCYB), et Cédric Pradel, Directeur de l'ACCYB, ont participé à une réunion stratégique avec le TT-CSIRT (Centre de Réponse à Incidents de Trinidad-et-Tobago), rattaché au Ministère de la Sécurité Nationale.

➡️ Objectifs principaux de la rencontre :

1️⃣ Explorer les synergies potentielles entre les deux entités,
2️⃣ Discuter des modalités d’une collaboration renforcée,
3️⃣ Évaluer les opportunités de mutualisation des moyens via un Protocole d’Accord (MOU).

🎯 Ce qu’il faut retenir :

Une présentation enrichissante des activités du TT-CSIRT, mettant en lumière son rôle clé pour la sécurité nationale,
Une discussion constructive sur les étapes nécessaires pour établir une coopération solide et durable,
La reconnaissance commune de l’importance de travailler ensemble pour optimiser les ressources et renforcer la cybersécurité régionale.

Le TT-CSIRT (Cyber Security Incident Response Team) de Trinidad-et-Tobago a été créé en novembre 2015 avec le soutien de l'Organisation des États américains (OEA) et de l'Union internationale des télécommunications (UIT).
✨ Sa mission : répondre efficacement aux incidents cybernétiques, rétablir les opérations et améliorer la cybersécurité grâce à l’éducation, la formation, la sensibilisation, la recherche et des stratégies de gestion collaborative.
Le TT-CSIRT joue un rôle clé dans la sécurisation de l’infrastructure cybernétique du pays, en promouvant un développement durable et une nation sûre et prospère.
