๐ฌ Protect Yourself, Stay Educated!
In our second video commemorating World AIDS Day 2024, we sat down with Sheldon Mason, a Sexual & Reproductive Health Educator at the NWRHA.
His mission? To spread awareness and educate communities on HIV/AIDS prevention across health centres, schools, and community spaces.
๐ก Best Practices to Reduce Your Risk of Contracting HIV:
* Get Tested Regularly โ Know your status and take control of your health.
* Use Protection โ If you have multiple partners, use a condom every time.
* Abstinence โ Abstain until youโre in a position to make informed, safe choices.
โค๏ธ Love Yourself โ When you value yourself, you make decisions that protect your health.
๐ข Myths Busted!
You cannot contract HIV from:
1.Sharing utensils
2.Kissing
3.Touching someone with HIV
๐ ABC Method for HIV Prevention:
A โ Abstinence
B โ Be Faithful
C โ Condomize
D โ Do Get Tested
E โ Educate Yourself
๐ Remember: Free condoms are available at all health centres throughout the NWRHA and across Trinidad and Tobago. Protect yourself and know your options.

๐ฌ Know Your Status!
To commemorate World AIDS Day 2024, we sat down with Natasha Hosein Ali, an HIV tester attached to the HPRP Unit, NWRHA, who shared vital information about HIV, AIDS, and the importance of getting tested.
HIV testing is available at all NWRHA Health Centres.
Simply bring a valid photo ID and visit your nearest health centre on the designated days and times.
๐ฉบ What to Expect:
โขPre- and post-counseling by a trained tester.
โขA simple finger stick for a few drops of blood.
โขResults are ready in 15-20 minutes.
โณ Window Period:
It can take up to 3 months for HIV antibodies to appear on a test. During this time, a person can still transmit the virus. Early testing and treatment are crucial for managing your health and preventing transmission.
๐ Life After HIV:
With proper treatment, people can achieve U=U status, meaning Undetectable = Untransmittable. This allows individuals to live full lives without sexually transmitting the virus.
๐ Need more info? You can take a screenshot of the HIV testing schedule at the end of this video or call your nearest health centre for the days and times HIV testing is available.
Get tested. Know your status. Stay empowered.

๐จ Unhealthy Suspects Spotted ๐จ
๐ต๏ธโโ๏ธ They talk the talk but can't walk the walk (or take the stairs)!
๐Replace those unhealthy suspect habits:
โ
Green tea, not a sugar overload!
โ
Keep condiments light for a balanced plate.
โ
Skip the elevator; take the stairs.
โ
Choose the healthy snack that loves you back.
๐ The lesson? Don't just talk healthy - live it!
