In every humanitarian context in the Caribbean, youth have come forward as eager members of the team. Today we honour all the youth volunteers putting themselves on the line to provide life-saving support and ensure that no one is left behind.

Under the Resilient Caribbean Project funded by EU Humanitarian Aid,
🇯🇲 university students through "Create and Code" collected data on displacement in western Jamaica after Hurricane Melissa, and
🇧🇧 youth in Barbados, through Anchor Bridge Environmental conducted community-level research on disaster risk management in vulnerable communities, providing valuable data on displacement to support decision-making at the national level.

Let's commit to protecting, supporting, and recognizing young humanitarians.

Protect Humanitarians. Protect Humanity.

When Sofia saw a job advertisement on Facebook Marketplace, it seemed to offer a way forward. At 27, the Venezuelan mother had spent years struggling to make ends meet. The post promised an all-expenses-paid trip to Trinidad and Tobago and the possibility of work once she arrived. With few opportunities left in Venezuela, it sounded like a chance worth taking. Instead, it became a trap.

Months after embarking on a journey that became a harrowing ordeal, Sofia is reclaiming her story. Today, speaking with quiet determination, she has one clear message: "I don't want what happened to me to happen to anyone else."

Our hearts are with the people of Guyana 🇬🇾 during this incredibly difficult time. Our thoughts are with the families affected by the tragedy involving the passenger ferry MV Barima, who are waiting for news of their loved ones, those who have lost family members. 💔🙏

We also would like to recognize the extraordinary efforts of the search and rescue teams who continue to work tirelessly and selflessly.💪🛡️
