Occupational Safety and Health Authority and Agency

Occupational Safety and Health Authority and Agency This implies an organisation that will be considered reliable, communicative and accountable, with a high impact and a good image.

The OSH Agency, the enforcing body for the OSH legislation (OSH Act and OSH regulations), is vested with legal powers for its inspectors to access all industrial establishments, acquire any information needed to carry out investigations and to use its legal intervention powers. As an enforcement body, the main objective of the OSH Agency is to ensure compliance with the OSH Act in accordance with

our enforcement policy that encourages voluntary compliance in the first instance. Therefore public awareness raising, the involvement and sensitization of tripartite partners and other stakeholders are considered critical in promoting a preventative safety and health culture in Trinidad and Tobago. Close co-operation with other ministries and institutions, as well as supporting OSH training structures and the provision of accessible OSH information are also essential to OSHA's mandate. One of the targets for the OSH Agency is to continuously work towards the building and sustaining of a modern, efficient, effective and highly professional Safety and Health Inspection Service that meets international standards.

OSHA stands firm behind the call to End Child Labour.
WORLD DAY AGAINST CHILD LABOUR
Every Child Deserves a Safe Childhood
Protect Children. Promote Education. End Child Labour.

Today on World Day Against Child Labour, Sen. the Hon. Leroy Baptiste joins the International Labour Organization's global campaign to prevent and eliminate Child Labour!

Our collective and coordinated partnerships with local and international organisations have strengthened our efforts to address child labour here at 'home' such as:

✅Development of Draft Child Labour Policy in
collaboration with the International Labour
Organization - Caribbean Office
✅Task Team operations effected to address
reports
✅Specialised Training of Labour Inspectors to
strengthen resolution efforts
✅Partnership with Child Labour ambassadors and
schools for enhanced advocacy, detection and
support systems within schools
✅Development of work lists to protect children
under age 18 from hazardous work
✅Mounting of public awareness initiatives to
continue calls for public prevention, detection
and reporting and;
✅ Collaborations with key stakeholders to
support families

Remember it takes a village to raise a child and a nation to protect them, let's all play our roles and act now to ensure that our children can enjoy fair play, and adults can enjoy decent work opportunities.
