♥️Let’s make a special dua tonight for our mothers, Past or Present. May Allah bless them with Jannah. May we never forget how much our mothers have done for us when we were small & helpless. Are we showing them the same support & love? I make dua that Allah keeps all our mothers safe. Ameen!

The San Fernando Song

This is our city, this is our song,
This is our own home, all the day long,
This is our city, this is our song,
San Fernando, will live on.

Look to the west friends and see the tide,
The sea bathes her feet in noble pride,
Look to the east friends, with the rambling hills,
From whence comes the breeze which has her soul to fill.

At the heart of our city, we see her face,
Anaparima that sacred place,
Her head still high, yet scarred and bruised,
Anaparima we’ll still be true to you.

Look at our people and their way of life ,
They struggle hard with standards high.
In the nation we’re first in many a way,
And the nation’s hopes in her are real today.

Let's recognize those persons with Down syndrome who spread warmth and happiness to everyone they encounter!

We are happy to join with citizens worldwide to recognise the astounding contributions made by persons with Down Syndrome who are amongst some of the most kind-hearted and loving persons that you may encounter.

March 21st was declared World Down Syndrome Day by the United Nations General Assembly to raise awareness and promote an inclusive society where every creed and race find an equal place.

On the 12th Anniversary of World Down Syndrome Day, let’s “rock our colourful socks” as we join the global voice advocating the rights and well-being of people with Down Syndrome on our shores and across the globe.

DIVALI 2016 GREETINGS FROM HIS WORSHIP THE MAYOR ALDERMAN HAJI KAZIM HOSEIN

As we join together to celebrate the festival of light, Divali, it is essential that we remember the significance of this wonderful celebration – the triumph of light over darkness, love over hate, good over evil. Divali is yet another testament to the diversity of our nation, a festival transplanted here by our East Indian ancestors and steeped in rich Trinidadian flavour.

While lighting deyas, enjoying the cuisine, and gathering with friends and family, I urge you to reflect on the light that is within each of us, and focus on seeing that light in others, so together we can overcome any darkness in our lives and in our nation. Remember that goodness prevails, in spite of our reasons to despair and let that give you the hope and motivation that you need to keep moving forward.

This year, Divali falls very close to the conclusion of our city’s Help 4 Haiti Charity Drive, so it is extremely fitting that, as a city, we promote our capacity for goodness at the same time as our Hindu brothers and sisters. In San Fernando, we are very fortunate to have a wonderful community spirit of volunteerism, which has made our city safer, more beautiful and prosperous. The charitable works of all our donors and volunteers will greatly impact the recovery of the families affected by Hurricane Matthew.

We must promote the message of overcoming darkness and negativity in Trinidad and Tobago by maintaining the focus on righteousness and the good we can do for others. It is in giving that we receive and it is through positivity that we can continue breeding positivity. This is the message that we must impart to our children, to look for the light in others and treat everyone in our wonderful, diverse nation with goodwill, love and respect.

On behalf of the San Fernando City Corporation, I wish all citizens in our blessed city, across the nation and around the world, a Happy and Prosperous Divali.
