The Community Policing Unit-Tobago Division is a community effort between law enforcement and the community which identifies problems of concerns to communities and work toward finding solutions to those problems. It is the community policing officers and the community members working together to help solve mutually defined problems through a deliberate effort aimed at reducing crime, violence, fe

ar, insecurity and community decay. Our role in the community are as follows: Lecture Schools (elementary, secondary, vocational), Parent Teacher's Association, Youth Groups, Neighbourhood Watch Groups and Public and Private Sector Organizations on Crime Prevention with matters incidental to the Domestic Violence Act; Display Booths- Career Guidance, Youth Club Counselling, Mediating, Annual Church Service Military funeral, Town Meetings, Sport and Culture. Any social function in which the unit has an integral role to play.

Four Arrested During Operation Steadfast in Tobago
Four suspects were detained, narcotics and a stolen item seized, when officers of the Tobago Division executed ‘Operation Steadfast’ between 4:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. on Friday 19th September, 2025.

The exercise was coordinated by ACP Subero, Snr Supt Elie, Supt Joseph, and W/ASP Bacchus, directly supervised by Ag Insp Mohammed and involved units from the Divisional CID, the Tobago Divisional Task Force, the Gang Intelligence Unit, the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF), and the Canine Unit, with technical support provided by the Crime Scene Investigations (CSI) Unit.

During the operation, four persons were arrested:

1. A 42-year-old sanitation worker of Scarborough was arrested after being found in possession of 496 grams of co***ne for the purpose of trafficking. The narcotics carry an estimated street value of $40,000.

2. A 27-year-old Guyanese national of Scarborough was arrested in connection with enquiries into a case of Robbery with Aggravation.

3. A 31-year-old man of Mt. St. George was held in relation to enquiries into House Breaking and Larceny.

4. A 29-year-old technician of Bethel Main Road was arrested in connection with House Breaking and Larceny. During this enquiry, police also seized one air rifle, suspected to be stolen.

Investigations are continuing.

Tobago Pair Charged with Cannabis Trafficking
Two men were arrested and several cannabis trees seized during a house search in the Tobago Division yesterday afternoon.
At approximately 5:10 pm on 18th September, 2025, W/Cpl Alfred received information regarding illegal fi****ms and ammunition, which led officers to the Congo Hill, Woodlands, Moriah home of a 38-year-old suspect.
Upon arrival at the location, officers detected a strong scent of cannabis and observed two men—the 38-year-old suspect and his 32-year-old relative—tending to cannabis plants. A total of 36 trees were found, well in excess of the legally prescribed limit. Both men were arrested on the scene.
A subsequent search of the residence led to the discovery and seizure of a white crocus bag containing 816.5 grammes of dried cannabis. The estimated street value of the 36 plants and the dried cannabis is TT$453,600.
The men were charged with Possession of Cannabis for the Purpose of Trafficking.
Investigations are ongoing.
