A total of 55 cohort of TVET trainers were the first in the Caribbean to complete their Post Grad diploma in CBET obtained from the University of the West Indies as a part of the Banana Accompanying Measures TVET Capacity Building and Professional Development Programme (EU BAM TVET). It is an achievement of one of the many initiatives undertaken by the MOEYSC to:

1. Strengthen the quality of TVET.

2. Ensure that all TVET programs meet industry, national and regional occupational standards to satisfy certification and accreditation requirements.

3. Strengthen and implement standardized TVET curricula and training programs that provide access to modern and relevant/up-to-date infrastructure and equipment.

4. Ensure that all trainers meet the standard requirements (theoretical & practical) for training at the appropriate level.

The MOEYSC congratulates all graduates on achieving this milestone as we continue to share a common vision in fostering quality, relevant and modernized technical and vocational employment training that will lead to the development of productive citizens of our Belize!

Abstract
As a way to implicate ourselves in the politics of teaching child and youth care, we write as witnesses of the world and, in so doing, we make risky attachments by exploring a politically engaged child and youth care education that does not promote insurance, control or detachment. Rather, in this paper we critically locate child and youth care education within the political and economic realities of today’s world. We grapple with the complexities of educating child and youth care practitioners deeply embedded in neoliberal capitalism and settler colonialism, and explore the conceptual shifts that we are experimenting with in our own teaching practices to engage in human service work that responds with care to individual and family need and suffering by engaging with the very structures that perpetuate harm and violence in our society.

As a way to implicate ourselves in the politics of teaching child and youth care, we write as witnesses of the world and, in so doing, we make risky attachments by exploring a politically engaged child and youth care education that does not promote insurance, control or detachment. Rather, in this p...

RE: Youth Empowerment

“Youth empowerment is a socio-political construct which involves young people being able to assert their political rights, effectively utilize their political space, actively promote and legally defend their individual and collective interests, irrespective of their socio-economic status, ethnicity, gender, physical and mental capacity, geographic location, religious or political affiliation. Whereas, financial investments and technical services may contribute to creating a supporting environment, youth empowerment is fundamentally a product of youth advocacy and political action” - Henry Wallace Charles, former Regional Director, Commonwealth Youth Programme, Caribbean Centre
