Tuvalu’s Maternal and Child Health clinic has a new digital health platform.

The Tamanu Electronic Medical Health Record System supports health staff to manage patient care in one place. It integrates scheduling and admissions to medication management, lab and imaging requests, bed management, discharges, and detailed patient records.

It also captures important patient information such as diagnoses, treatments, vital signs, vaccinations, and antenatal visits. Patients can be tracked through program registries, and clinicians across different facilities can access the same record.

Staff were given training in the platform last week.

Australia is pleased to support this new system to streamline Tuvalu’s healthcare and improve efficiencies.

Tuvalu celebrated a major milestone in its education journey with the launch of the STG Bachelor of Education (BEd) program this week, presided over by Deputy Prime Minister and Acting Minister for Education, Hon. Panapasi Nelesone.

This new program will support teachers to continue teaching while upgrading their qualifications, in line with new reforms requiring all teachers to hold a Bachelor of Education. This initiative is part of a broader national effort to strengthen the quality of learning across the country by supporting teachers to build their skills, qualifications, and leadership.

Australia is proud to support the Tuvalu Education Department - MEHRD on this program, alongside the Global Partnership for Education and UNICEF Pacific. It aims to build a stronger, more qualified teaching workforce and shapes a brighter future for learners across Tuvalu.

Introducing the Pacific Transnational Crime Network.

Criminals and the drugs they push threaten the Pacific way of life. They undermine community safety, breeding violence and exploitation.

Tuvalu is an active member of the Pacific Transnational Crime Network, a trusted regional intelligence community, sharing information, capability and experience to counter criminal networks across borders.

It comprises 29 Transnational Crime Units across 21 Pacific Island countries, and partners with agencies across the Indo-Pacific region to further its intelligence gathering.

These strong partnerships are vital to protecting communities and safeguarding future generations because it takes a network to break a network.
