(Please scroll down for English version)

✦ A Rooftop Garden Rooted in the Flavors of Vietnam ✦
Recently, a garden with a story has begun to take root in the “ ” on the fifth floor of Taichung Green Museumbrary 🌱
Created in collaboration with Vietnamese artist , Vietnamese Immigrating Garden Project – Borderless Garden grows out of the artist’s long-standing engagement with migration and community.
Through field research, Tuan Mami observed that many Vietnamese immigrants and migrant workers in Taiwan grow familiar ingredients and herbs from home on balconies, rooftops, or in quiet corners of factories. These plants carry the scents and flavors of Vietnamese cooking, offering comfort, memory, and a sense of home far from home.
The artist brings this observation into an art and cultural space, creating a garden that crosses boundaries of ethnicity, culture, and place. The project invites Vietnamese communities to gather at the museum, care for the plants, and share seeds, memories, and stories. This project has previously been presented at the Setouchi Triennale in Japan, as well as at Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts and Chiayi Art Museum in Taiwan.
Located between the art museum and the library, the Culture Forest is a shared space designed for encounters between different communities and cultures. Here, the garden is more than an artwork, it is also a platform for cultural exchange and a living archive of plants, migration, everyday life, and memory.
More workshops and activities will be announced soon. Stay tuned ✨
Come visit Taichung Green Museumbrary, spend time with the plants, listen to their stories, and experience the flavors of home from Vietnam. 🪴
