📱 Mobile Internet Disruption Drill

Taiwan will conduct its first mobile internet disruption drill in northern and central Taiwan. During the 30-minute exercise, 4G and 5G data speeds will be deliberately slowed, but phone calls, SMS, public alerts, Wi-Fi and fixed-line internet should continue working normally.

Central Taiwan: August 10, 2:30–3:00 p.m.

Northern Taiwan: August 13, 2:30–3:00 p.m.

Residents are advised to use Wi-Fi, voice calls or SMS and avoid mobile-data-heavy activities such as video calls, large file uploads and online trading during the drill.

For the first time, the nationwide Urban Resilience Exercises and air raid drills on Aug. 10 and 13 will include a simulation of a major slowdown in mobile internet speeds in 14 cities and counties across northern and central Taiwan.

Taiwan’s food scene continues to shine, with 146 restaurants recognized in the 2026 MICHELIN Guide Bib Gourmand selection, including 13 new additions. The list spans seven destinations: Taipei, New Taipei, Taichung, Tainan, Kaohsiung, Hsinchu City, and Hsinchu County. More than 80% of this year’s new entries specialize in Taiwanese cuisine or traditional Hakka dishes.

From the 37 selected restaurants in Taipei to 30 in Tainan, 23 in Taichung, and 21 in Kaohsiung, the list reflects Taiwan’s diverse culinary landscape. Taiwanese food and snacks have long represented the island’s rich history, cultural influences, and openness to new ideas.

We encourage Taiwan’s international community to explore the outstanding local cuisine found across the island, from traditional street food and family-run eateries to contemporary dining experiences.

From 18-year-old student to global founder— Camila Sáenz, decade in Taiwan has been one long, incredible "happy busy" adventure. 🇹🇼✨

Arriving in 2014, Camila transformed her life in Taiwan through a unique mix of academic rigor, athletic discipline, and entrepreneurship. Taiwan’s renewable energy ambitions continue to gain global momentum.

Taiwan ranked 5th globally in installed offshore wind capacity in 2025 and 3rd globally for new capacity additions. Taiwan has also installed its 500th offshore wind turbine, bringing total capacity to 4.8 GW, while offshore wind generation surpassed 10 billion kWh for the first time last year.

As Taiwan expands offshore wind to strengthen energy resilience, increase green power supply, enhance industrial competitiveness, and support its 2050 net-zero goal, opportunities are also growing for global environmental professionals.
