Bài dự thi #07 Đình Tuấn
Let me tell you a Vietnamese folk tale.
Once upon a time, there was a family where mother and daughter lived together in a small house. One day, the mother got sick because she worked too much then asked her daughter to find a doctor. On the way, the girl accidentally met an old man. The old man showed the little girl to find a white flower under the ancient tree at the top of the forest, each petal her mother would live for an extra day. The girl went on and on until she finally found the flower, but it only had 20 petals. After thinking for a while, she tore the petals into thousands of smaller petals that were both long and thin. When she returned, her mother recovered from the illness thanks to her love. People named the flower Chrysanthemum, a symbol of filial piety
In Vietnam, we call that flower “Cúc” and it is my inspiration for this DIY product. It is still a familiar conical hats - “Nón lá” of Vietnamese people, but stylized through the image of white chrysanthemums. With only paper material, although it looks sophisticated, it is extremely easy to do with just scissors and glue.
Through the work, I not only want to introduce to international friends the creatively designed “Nón lá”, but also a meaningful Vietnamese folk tale.
