There remain restrictions in place affecting U.S. citizen entry into Taiwan. Any U.S. citizen planning to travel to Taiwan should confirm their eligibility to enter Taiwan based on current border control measures. Currently, travelers that do not hold a Taiwan passport must have a valid Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) or visa to enter Taiwan; exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis for individuals who obtain entry permission for emergency or humanitarian reasons. Travelers are encouraged to contact their local TECRO office to verify eligibility for travel as restrictions are amended. Please see the COVID-19 Information page at https://www.ait.org.tw/covid-19-information/ for more information.

Louisiana residents: The State of Louisiana will conduct two special primary elections on Tuesday, March 20, 2021, to fill a vacancy for the 2nd and 5th Congressional Districts. Make your voice heard
by submitting your completed, signed FPCA to their local election officials in Louisiana via email, mail, or fax by February 17, 2021.

Louisiana residents in Taiwan can drop off their completed ballots at AIT between 8 am and 5 pm, Monday through Friday, except for Taiwan and American holidays. Ballots are collected inside the Consular Entrance at the American Institute in Taiwan. AIT will then send it to your local election official. Your ballot must be in either a postage paid return envelope (free if you click the link below to get one!) or in an envelope bearing sufficient domestic U.S. postage, and must also be addressed to the relevant local election officials. Information for Travelers Entering the United States:

Effective January 26, the Centers for Disease Control (https://www.cdc.gov/quarantine/fr-proof-negative-test.html) will require all air passengers entering the United States (including U.S. citizens and Legal Permanent Residents) to present a negative COVID-19 test, taken within three calendar days of departure, or proof of recovery from the virus within the last 90 days. Airlines must confirm the negative test result or proof of recent recovery for all passengers prior to boarding. Airlines must deny boarding of passengers who do not provide documentation of a negative test or recovery.

Please see CDC’s FAQ for answers to questions about the new requirement for proof of negative COVID-19 test or recovery from COVID-19 for all air passengers arriving in the United States. The FAQ is available at: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/testing-international-air-travelers.html

If you are planning to travel overseas or if you are currently overseas and planning to return to the U.S., you should contact your airline for specific information about testing requirements for travelers. Because airlines may adopt and modify their own specific policies to implement CDC’s new rule, you should contact the carrier for your U.S.-bound flight and not rely on information from other carriers or information or experience from previous trips.

The Department of State advises all U.S. citizens to read the country-specific Travel Advisories and U.S. Embassy COVID pages for updates on the impact of COVID-19 worldwide. Please visit https://travel.state.gov/content/travel.html for this additional information.
