National Taiwan University Hospital (NTUH) and ADATA Technology today jointly announced the “Next-Generation AI-Powered Autonomous Mobile Disinfection Solution.” This partnership goes beyond the introduction of a single piece of disinfection equipment. Centered on the practical needs of healthcare settings, it establishes an end-to-end service workflow encompassing physical disinfection, verification mechanisms, and performance records, moving environmental disinfection from manual operations toward smart management that is plannable, verifiable, and traceable.
The solution builds upon R&D on the application of 222 nm Far-UVC disinfection technology, led by the NTUH Healthcare System in collaboration with industry partners. Following feasibility verification of close-range precision disinfection in healthcare settings, the solution further integrates ADATA Technology’s autonomous mobile robot (AMR) platform, AI object recognition, and robotic arm technology. The system automatically identifies objects requiring disinfection, carries out disinfection tasks precisely, and records the time, location, and results of each task, providing infection control teams with a basis for evaluating performance and making continuous improvements. Field verification is currently underway at NTUH and NTUH Hsinchu Branch, where clinical workflows are being jointly developed.
The "Next-Generation AI Autonomous Mobile Disinfection Solution" service workflow covers three key dimensions:
Physical Disinfection: Disinfection routes and tasks are planned according to the characteristics of different settings, including wards, outpatient clinics, and public areas. AI object recognition and robotic arms are used to perform close-range precision disinfection of high-touch objects.
Verification Mechanism: A disinfection efficacy verification process is established to confirm that each task meets infection control requirements.
Performance Records: The time, location, and ex*****on status of disinfection tasks are digitally recorded throughout the entire process, creating traceable management records to support internal infection control audits and quality management.
Chong-Jen Yu, Superintendent of NTUH, stated: “For years, the NTUH Healthcare System has promoted the research, development, and implementation of smart healthcare, precision health, and advanced medical care through interdisciplinary and inter-college collaboration. Through cross-sector collaboration between medicine and the innovative technology industry, we are bringing artificial intelligence, autonomous mobile robots, and advanced disinfection technologies into environmental safety management. This demonstrates the results of combining clinical needs with innovative R&D and establishes a new development model for smart infection control.”
He further noted: "As a vital component of National Taiwan University, the NTUH Healthcare System remains committed to integrating clinical service, innovative research, and industrial collaboration to deliver impactful medical innovations. We look forward to applying smart technology to further enhance patient safety, environmental management quality, and healthcare delivery efficiency, cultivating a higher-quality care environment."
Simon Chen, Chairman of ADATA Group, stated that the Group places great importance on and fully supports its partnership with NTUH. This collaboration helps elevate the level of automation in environmental disinfection operations at medical centers and accelerates the practical application of physical AI technology in healthcare settings.
Ivan Lin, Chairman of ADATA AI and Executive Vice President of ADATA Group, remarked: "We are deeply grateful for NTUH's trust and joint efforts over the years. ADATA Technology has long cultivated AI, autonomous mobile robots, and smart sensing technologies. Grounded in the clinical validation experience built alongside NTUH, we started directly from hospital operational workflows to integrate AI object recognition, autonomous navigation, and smart disinfection functions. By offering end-to-end services from ex*****on and verification to data logging, we aim to build a healthcare disinfection solution that balances efficiency, safety, and intelligent management."
Ching-Ting Tan, Deputy Superintendent of NTUH, stated: “Maintaining a safe, high-quality healthcare environment is one of the most important responsibilities of healthcare institutions, and smart healthcare is an important direction for industry and healthcare to jointly promote sustainability. Building on years of smart infection control R&D at NTUH Hsinchu Branch—including early initiatives in smart disinfection and field verification of 222 nm Far-UVC technology—today’s next-generation disinfection solution further integrates AI, autonomous mobile robots, and smart management technologies. We will continue working toward a safer, smarter, and more resilient healthcare environment.”
