Gelephu Maitreya Temple Signs Partnership with Maitreya Global Alliance

Gelephu Maitreya Temple Signs Partnership with Maitreya Global Alliance
His Eminence Trulku Kunga Tenzin Rinpoche, Founder and Chairperson of the Gelephu Maitreya Temple (GMT), recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Maitreya Global Alliance (MGA). The signing marks a meaningful step in the temple's growing engagement with international partners who share a commitment to humanity's long-term well-being.
The GMT is a sacred project within Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC), Bhutan's visionary new city guided by the aspirations of His Majesty The King of Bhutan.
Through this partnership, GMT and MGA will work together to explore shared approaches to the challenges facing humanity, and to contribute to international conversations on building a more compassionate and sustainable future. Both organisations bring distinct but complementary perspectives to this work.
One focus of the partnership is the concept of "Good AI," a key initiative championed by MGA. The concept holds that artificial intelligence must be developed and governed in accordance with ethical values, placing human well-being and dignity at its centre.
Discussions during the signing event explored how this vision connects with the broader mission of GMC as a city grounded in mindfulness and wisdom.
The occasion also offered an opportunity to share how the GMT, once complete, can contribute to the spiritual and cultural life of GMC. Progress on the temple project was presented, with 2029 set as a milestone for completion of the central structure. The work continues steadily, guided by purpose and a deep sense of responsibility to the vision it serves.
It was, by all accounts, a gathering of quiet significance. The partnership between GMT and MGA reflects something larger than an institutional agreement. It is a recognition that the challenges of our time call for responses rooted in wisdom, care, and shared humanity.
