📚Education was at the heart of this visit—strengthening partnerships to support the continued development of the University of Belize. We also valued the inclusion of cultural exchange, reinforcing shared values and deepening the connection between the people of Taiwan and Belize.

Last week’s engagement with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Belize in Taiwan welcomed CEO Dian Castillo-Maheia of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Technology, alongside a distinguished delegation from the University of Belize: Dr. Vincent Palacio (President), Egbert Irving (Director of Institutional Advancement), and Adelita Zayden (Associate Dean, Preclinical Sciences, School of Medicine).

Through engagements with key partners—including the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Education, and 14 universities such as National Taiwan University, National Chengchi University, and Meiho University—we explored collaboration in nursing, medical sciences, marine biology, business, and tourism & hospitality.

A key highlight was the signing of an MOU with Meiho University, marking the third agreement between the University of Belize and Taiwan’s academic institutions—further strengthening a growing partnership.

We thank all partners and look forward to advancing these engagements into meaningful, long-term collaboration in education and capacity building.

Our heartfelt thanks to the Ministry of Economic Affairs, especially Vice Minister Cynthia Kiang, for her steadfast support and advocacy for the Belize–Taiwan Economic Cooperation Agreement (ECA).

It was a wonderful evening of lively conversation and connection, bringing together Belizean students at the Master’s and PhD levels focused on international trade and technology. We also valued the opportunity to gain deeper insight into the important work of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and its vital role in strengthening Belize–Taiwan bilateral relations.

Moments like these highlight the enduring friendship between Belize and Taiwan, while celebrating the next generation of Belizean leaders as they chart their paths on the global stage.

Belize is proud to have participated in the Global Cooperation and Training Framework (GCTF) workshop beginning March 31, represented by Mr. Ricardo Moguel Jr. of the Ministry of E-Governance.

The workshop provided a valuable platform for advancing dialogue on regional cybersecurity information sharing and strengthening collective capacity.

As Belize continues to enhance its cybersecurity landscape, we appreciate the opportunity to engage, learn, and collaborate with partners committed to building a more secure digital future.

二十年前，梅凱瑟大使從加勒比海來到臺北，成為政大 IMBA 留學生，當時101才剛落成，多雨的政大和貓空的茶香，成了她的歸屬。

二十年後，她以大使身分「回來」。她將在臺灣求學時培養的國際視野與民主思維，結合商業管理背景，打造獨特的「外交商道」，以策略與KPI推動兩國在經貿與氣候議題上的合作。

對她而言，外交不只是政策往來，更是日常餐桌上的連結與人與人之間的信任延續。帶著對臺灣的深厚情感，她也鼓勵年輕世代勇敢突破框架，成為改變世界的力量。

This month, the Embassy of Belize in Taiwan continued active engagement with key partners across Taiwan, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs—underscoring the strength of our mature and dynamic partnership.

We met with Director General Amb. José Chih-Cheng Han to exchange updates on key initiatives, upcoming delegations, and shared priorities.

It was also a pleasure to reconnect with Ambassador Amino C.Y. Chi. Our discussions were warm and productive, focused on strengthening collaboration and advancing the promotion of Belize as a destination.

Engagements with Mr. Augusto Chou-Fu Chan, Director of CATO, explored expanded opportunities in trade and investment, including tourism, financial services, and sustainability-focused cultural initiatives.

We also welcomed CABEI’s Chief Sustainability Officer, Mr. Manfred Kopper Castro, for discussions on sustainable development, carbon credits, and increased private sector engagement.

These engagements reflect our ongoing commitment to deepening cooperation and delivering meaningful results. We sincerely thank our partners for their continued support.

Last week, we had the honor of joining the Mayor of Belmopan and his delegation, alongside a representative from Greater Belize Media, in Taipei City for the Smart City Summit 2026 and the International Cities Forum.

It was an engaging and forward-looking week focused on innovation and building smarter, more resilient cities 🌆✨. Meaningful exchanges with the Belizean community and business leaders highlighted opportunities to support Belmopan’s smart city journey.

We extend our sincere thanks to the Taipei City Government, the Smart City team, and all partners for their warm welcome and for making this visit a success 🤝.

🇧🇿🤝🇹🇼 Strengthening Financial Bridges Between Belize and Taiwan.

The Embassy of Belize extends its sincere congratulations and appreciation to the team led by Finance Belize, in collaboration with BCCAR, IMMARBE, BHSFU, and the Financial Services Commission (FSC), on the successful completion of their recent mission to Taiwan.

This visit represents an important step in ongoing efforts to deepen trade in services between our two allied nations. The delegation engaged in meaningful discussions, built valuable connections, and gained key insights into Taiwan’s financial services environment.

The mission further advanced dialogue on financial cooperation and investment, while strengthening mutual trust—an essential foundation for sustainable growth and partnership.

We extend special thanks to our valued partners in Taiwan—the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), CATO, and the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in Belize—for their continued support in making this engagement a success.
