Humans of Sanxia 三峽因您而美麗

傳統木雕如果沒有傳承的話就不會保留至今，然而在別的國家可能很罕見了。好在臺灣還有人願意去學木雕這門藝術，而文化有所保留至今。黃希宸19嵗開始就接觸木雕，在念臺灣藝術大學有念古籍修復課，而他研究所是念雕刻的。黃希宸自己對木雕有興趣，也跟了老師學習。在學習當中如果沒有師傅的指導就會很難客服瓶頸，有老師指導的話他會以他的經驗來幫忙化解。
傳統雕刻（不管是木雕或石雕）和彩繪包含了很多中華文化。比如故宮的工藝品也是5000年來的民間技藝上的傳遞方式和工藝，像是很常見的春聯代表吉利的意思。以前的皇帝的茶杯不可能是簡單的設計，就像木雕是一品藝術。在中國傳統裏不同朝代的藝術都包含了不同文化。木雕其實是一個需要體力的工作，很耗費體力而且可能職業的年齡沒有的延續到老。所以老一代的木雕老師都希望有更多的人傳承這門藝術和文化。
一小塊木要一個木雕師需要花至少一個月來完成的作品，也要看作品的層次度。以前的師傅們都會分工來增加生產的速度與木雕的產量像是一個師傅負責粗胚，另一個師傅負責細胚，等等的紋路細節。一個人做木雕的時間會比較長，以前都是爲了賺錢所以分工加快速度。硬木需要花更多的時間和力氣來完成木雕；相反的是軟木會比較快完成，所以通常以前的木雕師傅會用軟木。木頭在雕刻前就必須處理，像是要影乾，鋸平和壓平讓木頭的水分蒸發，因爲木雕是要用平面的木頭來雕刻的。在雕刻木前每一把雕刀都必須磨利。
黃希宸先生在以木雕刻工坊裏教學木雕，也有販售他自己的木雕作品。他所雕刻的作品像是鳥，牡丹，傳奇人物等都栩栩如生。想要學木雕不妨到以木雕刻工坊學這門藝術。

If traditional wood carving is not inherited, it would not be preserved today. However, in other countries, traditional wood carving is less common nowadays. Fortunately, in Taiwan, somebody is willing to learn wood carving skills, and nowadays the culture is still remaining. Mr Huang Xi Chen started wood carving when he was the age of 19. While he was studying at the National Taiwan University of Art, he studied ancient object repairmen course. When he was a research student, he took carving as his major of study. Mr Huang Xi Chen is interested in wood carving, he followed his teacher’s path and learned from his teacher. Mr Huang Xi Chen felt lucky to learn from his teacher because without a teacher’s guide, it will be hard to solve difficulties, but with a teacher’s direct, the teacher will use his [sic] experiences to solve your problems.
Traditional carving(no matter is wood carving or stone carving) and painting included a lot of Chinese cultures. For instance, the imperial palace’s crafts were art that passed on from 5000 years ago such as the Chinese couplets represent auspicious which nowadays people still put them on the house’s front door. The ancient emperor’s drinking cup would not be a simple design, just like wood carve is an art craft. There was a different culture in different Chinese dynasty. Wood carving needs to use body strengths and it is a strenuous job with an early retirement age. Therefore, the older generation of woodcarving masters would like to pass down this kind of culture and art of wood carving.
A small piece of wood takes at least a month to complete the carvings, also depends on the layers of the product. Back then, the wood carving masters divided the workload to increase the wood carving production such as a master might be handling the fine carving, another master in-charge of thick carving and other details. Compare to working wood carve alone will take a long time, and earn more they have to divide their workload to increase the production’s speed. A hardwood will take longer time and more effort to complete the carvings; vice versa softwood, and usually the woodmaster back than will use the softwood. The wood has to be handled before carving, such as flattening it and drying it. This is because woodcarving needs to use a very flat piece of wood to carve. The wood carving blades need to be sharpened before using them.
Mr Huang Xi Chen at the YIMU woodcarving workshop is teaching wood carving and also he is selling his own wood carved crafts. His wood carved crafts such as the bird, peony, legendary characters are all looking alive. If you want to learn wood carving, why not give a try at the YIMU wood carving workshop.

禾乃川国產豆制所
禾乃川的豆是 純用100% 臺灣有機黃豆和黑豆。禾乃川有自製豆漿，鹽鹵壓豆腐，黑豆飲，豆花，豆漿冰淇淋等。禾乃川有十八仙的收入都會捐給小草書屋有需要的學生。小篇們體驗了做豆腐，豆乾和豆漿。

He Nai Chuan Taiwan Bean Production
The beans were produced from Taiwan local’s suppliers who supplied organic yellow beans and black beans to He Nai Chuan Taiwan Bean. The products are soy milk, dark soy milk, soy drink, nigari pressed tofu, tofu pudding, soy ice cream etc. 10% of He Nai Chuan Taiwan Bean Production’s income will be donating to the Grass Book House for the children who are from the difficult family background. The editors experienced DIY tofu and soy milk.

Steps to make Soy Milk 製作豆漿的過程：
1. Pick beans 挑豆
2. Soak beans 浸泡豆
3. Grind beans 磨豆
4. Add soy water 加豆水
5. Boil 沸騰
6. Filter fibre 濾豆渣
7. Soy milk produced 豆漿完成

小草書屋和青草職能學苑是一個讓一些來自弱勢家庭的小朋友放學後逗留的溫暖小屋。那些小孩有的是來自單親家庭，隔代教養，低收入，或是父母有犯罪記錄。小草書屋是給國小生而青草職能學苑是給國中生上的。這兩個地方都是讓孩子們放學後學習的地方，避免孩子們失去人生方向。他們在這裡可以上到學校課程以外的課，像是才藝班，音樂課，美術課，烹飪，和其它的生活技能。小篇們在這裏當了國際志工，我們準備了3堂不同課程的課。第一堂課是自我介紹，介紹了澳洲和馬來西亞的文化。第二堂是快樂學習美術課和唱歌，孩子們動手製作澳洲的點畫回力標，和學習馬來西亞的童謠 ’Rasa Sayang' （愛）。第三堂則是烹飪課，孩子們動手做了馬來西亞的糕點，南瓜糕和 ABC湯。雖然相處的時間不長，打從一開始的搗蛋鬼，漸漸發現到他們的單純可愛。
你們這些小瓜，要快樂成長，我們有緣再見！

The Grass Book House and the Grass Life Skill Academy are the after-school tutorial centre for children in need. For instance, children from the single parent family, gap generation family, low-income family, parents with criminal history etc. The Grass Book House is for elementary school students, and the Grass Life Skills Academy is for secondary and high school students. These are places where these children can stay after-school to prevent the loss of life direction. There are many extra-curriculum courses for the children to learn such as talent courses on music instruments, art, culinary, and other life skills courses.
The editors were international volunteers who designed three teaching topics for these children during the Embrace Sanxia Project. The first lesson was self-introduction on Australia and Malaysia cultures. The second lesson was art and singing lesson which was teaching the Australian dot painting on boomerang and Malaysian's childhood song 'Rasa Sayang' (Felt Loved). The third one was a culinary class with two Malaysian cuisines, the ABC soup and kuih labu (pumpkin sticky cake). The children enjoyed overseas culture experiences with the editors' lessons.

Thank you Sanxia for this awesome 6 weeks. It has been a joyful, adventurous and memorable 6 weeks. There's so much to say but so little time to express. We would like to thank those who helped and supported us throughout this journey. I would say it is not easy, for all the sleepless night, video editing, the packed schedule, and super cold weather, but what I can say is it is definitely worth it. We learnt, we grow and we'll become stronger.

Goodbye Sanxia, Taiwan. Till the day we meet again!

Humans of Sanxia 三峽因您而美麗

1984年溫師傅跟著他的舅舅開始到台北學金工。三年前就在三峽的甘樂文創開啟了屬於自己的工作室，認真地為客人打造精緻的飾品。他最喜歡的，是與人互動的溫度。而三藝金工給人的溫暖，完全來自溫師傅的細心，態度與堅持。那個年代不是每個人都有這個機會可以去向當時的師傅學手藝，不過現在如果你有興趣學習這門手藝，想要為自己心愛的人打造一樣獨一無二的飾品，你可以考慮報名一天的課程體驗成為一天的學徒。小編們就在上個星期參與了溫師傅的一日銀匠職人，爲自己打造屬於自己的手飾戒指。做金工一點都不容易，雖然過程中經歷了不少的小失敗哈哈哈，但成品完成的時候那成就感是非筆墨能形容的。溫師傅的人很友善也很幽默，讓工作室里充滿歡樂一點也不會悶。除此之外，小工作室裡也有售賣溫師傅親手打造的精美飾品和餐具哦。

In 1984 Master Woon followed his uncle to Taipei to learn goldsmith craft. Three years ago he opened his own workshop at The Can, Sanxia, and started to hand-make exquisite gold accessories for his customers. What he likes the most is the warmth interactions with others. Master Woon’s carefulness, attitude and adherence are the sources of warmness at San Yi Goldsmith Workshop (三藝金工). During that era, not everyone could have the chance to learn goldsmith craft from goldsmith masters, but it is different now. If you are interested on learning goldsmith craft, you could DIY and make your unique accessories to your love ones. You can now register and take a lesson to experience goldsmith craft with Master Woon. The editors went to the workshop last week and we made our own bracelet and ring. I wouldn't say the process is easy but it is definitely worth it even you may go through failures during the process. Master Woon is friendly and humorous, he made the class lively and you will never get bored. Other than that, the workshop is selling Master Woon’s handmade master pieces such as delegate jewels and utensils.

你喜歡咖啡或茶呢？天芳茶行純做台灣有機茶，也多元化。天芳茶行之所以賣那麼多種茶是因為經過客人的意見和依照客人偏愛的口味來製作。以前就是老一代的人在喝茶，現在年輕一代喝茶的人也漸漸增加。天芳茶行雖然產茶量少，但品質是被認證的！從民國87年（1998年）開始參加三峽和全台灣大大小小的製茶比賽，贏得了不少特獎狀尤其是碧螺春。一走進天芳茶行，映入眼簾的是掛在墻上比賽贏得的獎匾。天芳茶行產的茶都是天然不加防腐劑的茶， 老闆也堅持做臺灣茶，從種茶，收成，製作，包裝，都是一手包辦，至今已經是第四代了,爲的衹是希望顧客喝到的都是臺灣自己生產的有機茶。碧螺春和蜜香紅茶是三峽的特產，也是天芳茶行的主打。蜜香紅茶是要透過一種昆蟲咬過，茶葉才會產出類似蜜糖的甘甜茶味。喝起來苦澀中帶甘甜， 而且味道比綠茶來的濃一些。天芳茶行希望和顧客有長久的關係，像是黃小老闆的服務周到，就連運輸公司沒辦法準時把茶寄給顧客時，他堅持親自送，爲的是希望顧客可以準時收到所購買的茶！現在三峽種茶的人比以前少很多， 早期三峽的產量是全台灣四分之一。後來煤礦和陶瓷業發達之後三峽的茶產量就落寞了許多。以前台灣火車上都有免費的茶能喝， 而且大部分都是三峽出產的，但沒什麼人知道三峽有產茶。
上個星期小編們到天芳茶行拜訪，也體驗如何包裝茶葉，泡茶，品茶，參觀製茶工廠和茶園。從對茶一無所知到現在小編們已經可以輕易的分辨茶的種類，欣賞茶的特色，瞭解老闆的熱忱，和學習老闆服務客戶真誠的態度。黃小老闆的人超好，超友善，臨走前還送了我們一人各一包自己包裝的碧螺春呢！ *開心！ ！ ！ *

三峽天芳茶行有FB 粉絲專頁，雖然可以從臉書上購買茶，但黃老闆建議客人先到天芳茶行品茶，喝到喜歡的再買。

Coffee, TEA or me? Tian Fang Tea produces varies of Taiwanese organic teas. The reason why Tian Fang Tea sells different types of tea is that it produced of according to customers’ preferences after taking in customers’ opinions. It used to be elder generations who were drinking tea, but nowadays, there are younger people started to drink tea. Although Tian Fang Tea produces small amount of teas, it stressed on quality over quantity, in addition their teas are certified. From 1998, Tian Fang Tea began to participate in Sanxia District and National Taiwan tea competitions and won a lot of awards especially Bi-luo-chun Green tea. Tian Fang Tea products are natural and preservative-free, from planting, harvest, production and packaging, all are handle by Tian Fang Tea, and so far it’s the fourth generation. Tian Fang Tea strive to serve customers with high quality organic teas. Bi-luo-chun Green Tea and Mi Xiang (Honey scented) Black Tea are Sanxia’s famous local products and can be found at Tian Fang Tea. Mi Xiang Black Tea leaves are bitten by a type of tea insects to be able to produce honey scented like tea. When drinking Mi Xiang Black Tea, it will be slightly bitter yet sweet, and it is much thicker than green tea. Tian Fang Tea would like to have a long term relationship with its customers. For instance, when the postage company could not deliver the tea to the customer on time, the owner of Tian Fang Tea, Mr. Huang insisted personally deliver the tea to his customer. Now, tea plantation in Sanxia are not as much as before. Back then Sanxia tea production’s amount is quarter of the entire Taiwan. Because of the coal and pottery industries had risen and Sanxia’s tea production had decline. Before that, there were free tea provided on Taiwan’s train, mostly are produced from Sanxia but nobody seems to know it.
Last week, the editors visited Tian Fang Tea to experience how to pack tea, taste different kinds of tea, and visited tea factory and tea plantation. From knowing nothing about teas, now we can easily tell the types of tea, understand the characteristics of the tea, and learnt the attitude showed by the boss on how to treat customer sincerely. The boss is kind and friendly, before leaving, we received one pack of Bi-luo-chun Tea as a gift.
Tian Fang Tea has a FB fans page, and you can purchase tea from there. However, Mr. Huang suggested his customers to taste the tea at Tian Fang Tea before buying it.

長福嚴

自古以來，長福嚴清水祖師廟便是三峽地區的信仰。廟創建於清乾隆34年（1769），在1833年因大地震而毀塌重建，到1895年又慘遭日軍燒毀，後來再度重建。光復後，由名畫家李梅樹主持改建。由於要求嚴謹，因此用了36年來建造，是全省廟宇施工時間最長的。長福嚴祖師廟被譽爲民間藝術的殿堂，處處都顯現出刻意經營，精雕細琢的心血。廟裏的柱子高達156根，是臺灣所有廟宇中最多的。祖師廟最大的特色是廟裏采用了三種不同的雕刻，石雕，木雕和銅塑。每根柱子都雕上神話故事和歷史演義，如封神榜，三國演義，東周演義等。仔細觀察你還可以通過柱子來看故事。若你來到三峽，可以到祖師廟里拜拜保平安!

Chang Fu Yan Qing Shui Temple is the main belief of the people in Sanxia. This temple was built in the Dynasty Qing Qian long 34 years (1769), in 1833 it was destroyed and reconstructed due to earthquake, in 1895 it was destroyed by Japanese, and rebuilt. After the restoration of Taiwan, the famous artist Master Li Meishu took charge of the renovation process. Due to rigorous requirements, it took 36 years to rebuild, it is the longest temple construction time in the province. Qing Shui Temple was known as the palace of art, you can find beauty in every single corner of the temple. There are 156 carved pillars in the temple, and the most unique features of this temple is there are three different carvings, such as stone carvings, wood carvings and bronze. Each pillar is carved with myths and historical romances, such as Gods, Romance of the Three Kingdoms and the Eastern Zhou Dynasty Romance. If you observe carefully, you may find stories on the pillars.

We went to The Shu's Pottery shop to experience how to make ceramic mug last week. The Shu's Pottery provides amazing pottery lessons that allows any ages from toddlers to elderly to present their creativity. Other activities such as mould pottery, mosaic door plate are also provided. The staffs are very friendly, patient and provides detailed tutorial while guiding their customers to make their DIY pottery. There's also cafe for you to have some bite. If you were planning on where to visit in Yingge, you probably don't wanna miss out getting the chance to experience customizing your own pottery products at 新旺.集瓷The Shu's Pottery/集瓷 Cocera.

新旺集瓷提供了有创意的陶瓷自制课，老少咸宜。您可以体验手拉柸或者是其他的课程像是捏陶，马赛克门牌，手脚印陶板都有。那里的员工很友善，有耐心而且也详细地向顾客講解DIY瓷器的步驟。新旺集瓷也有銷售精美的瓷器，有个小咖啡厅讓你累了歇歇，肚子餓了吃吃，口渴了也可以喝喝咖啡哦。如果你還在煩惱假日要到哪裏玩，不妨考慮到鶯歌一游，逛逛陶瓷老街也可以到這裏來捏捏陶器。

昨天，北大AIESEC專案的12位來自不同國家的交換生和我們一起體驗三峽的其中一個文化，藍染！由甘樂文創的可愛小老師，毛毛，帶領大家一起學習各種不同的樣式，然後再自己親手製作。
午餐過後，跟著我們的脚步一起游三峽！

He was once an office worker, Sanxia used to be a place where he rests after work.
