H.E. Amb. Catherine Karemu, Kenya's High Commissioner to Tanzania led the staff of the Kenya High Commission, Dar es Salaam in hosting the 2026 Diaspora Investment Forum on Saturday 6th June 2026 at Johari Rotana Hotel in Dar es Salaam. The Forum was held in partnership with State Department for Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Kenya and the Central Bank of Kenya as the main sponsor of the event.
Held under the theme, “Connecting the Kenyan Diaspora to Investment Opportunities and National Growth," the forum brought together Kenyans living in Tanzania for an interractive event that had engaging presentations that sought to catalyse and harness the financial, intellectual and enterpreneurial potential of the Kenyan Diaspora towards the national development agenda.
Amb. Catherine Karemu underscored the importance of the Diaspora in Kenya's social economic transformation and elaborated the key areas of focus driving the work of Kenya Mission's Abroad in implementing the Diaspora Policy. Ms. Lucy Muraya, Assistant Director who represented Ms. Roseline Njogu, Principal Secretary, State Department for Diaspora Affairs, affirmed the Government of Kenya's commitment to working with the Diaspora and enumerated in detail, the policy framework that prioritized Diaspora issues and guided the work of the State Department.
Amb. Mohamed Rwange, Kenya's Consul General in Arusha encouraged Kenyan companies to tailor-make their products to enhance their suitability and accessibility to the Diaspora. Ms. Nancy Mrashui Ntimama, Head Stakeholder Engagements-Financial Markets, representing the Central Bank of Kenya, demystified Government Securities and invited the Diaspora to invest in Government Bills and Bonds through the award winning Dhow platform that had transformed Kenya's financial markets.
The Forum also had interractive sessions featuring Centum, Safaricom, Farmers Choice and a Panel discussion by the Diaspora Business Community in Tanzania on opportunities and challenges in the sectors of retail, import/export, aviation, marketing consulting, record management and archiving.
As part of the event experience, four (4) participants walked away a complimentary return ticket through a raffle courtesy of Kenya Airways. There was also song and dance perfomance by the Kenyan master students from Aga Khan University in Dar es salaam. The event culminated in a toast and a cake with the Kenya Diaspora to celebrate Kenya's Madaraka Day that was commemorated on 1st June 2026. The Forum was sponsored by the Central Bank of Kenya as the main sponsor, Centum, Kenya Airways, Farmers Choice and Serengeti Breweries.
