In celebration of the International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations, on 24 May, artists from China and Tanzania transformed Dar es Salaam into a vivid window into civilization exchanges during a cultural event themed as Maritime Silk Road Impressions: Immersive Salon of Intangible Cultural Heritage from Ancient Zayton Port .
The event, jointly organized by the Chinese Embassy in Tanzania, China Center of International Cultural Exchange and Tourism Promotion, and China Cultural Center in Tanzania, drew a lot of Tanzanian including government officials, scholars, artists, as well as members of the overseas Chinese community, many of whom described themselves as deeply fascinated and emotionally moved by the rich display of both Chinese and Tanzanian culture.

On May 19, 1613, Xu Xiake, the famous traveller and geographer, departed from Ninghai, Zhejiang Province,with the Diary of a Trip to Tiantai Mountain.
