"Zanzibar came and showed up."

These were the words of Mr. Dominic Shoo, Managing Director of Kilifair Promotion Co. Ltd, as he reflected on Zanzibar's remarkable participation at Karibu Kilifair 2026.
Commending the Zanzibar Commission for Tourism (ZCT) and its tourism stakeholders, Mr. Shoo noted that among all the Country Day presentations featured during the fair, Zanzibar Day stood out as one of the most memorable highlights of the event, captivating audiences through its vibrant culture, strong stakeholder engagement, and unique destination offerings.

In recognition of Zanzibar's outstanding participation and contribution to the success of Karibu Kilifair 2026, Mr. Shoo presented ZCT with a Certificate of Appreciation, acknowledging the destination's commitment to promoting tourism and enriching the East African tourism landscape.

🍲🌿 ZANZIBAR DAY | KARIBU-KILIFAIR 2026

Following the panel discussion on “Sustainable Tourism and its Practicality in Zanzibar,” guests and stakeholders at the Zanzibar Pavilion were invited to experience one of Zanzibar’s most cherished culinary delights.

As part of showcasing culinary tourism, Urojo (Zanzibar Mix) was served to more than 250 visitors and stakeholders, offering them an authentic taste of Zanzibar’s rich and diverse food culture.

This culinary experience provided a meaningful extension of the discussions held earlier, allowing participants to connect with Zanzibar not only through dialogue, but also through its unique flavours and hospitality.

A true reflection of Zanzibar’s identity—where culture, tourism, and gastronomy come together.

During Zanzibar Day at Karibu-Kilifair 2026, the Zanzibar Pavilion successfully hosted a panel discussion on “Sustainable Tourism and its Practicality in Zanzibar.”

The session brought together tourism stakeholders, industry experts, and development partners to exchange views on practical approaches to strengthening sustainable tourism in Zanzibar, with emphasis on environmental conservation, community participation, responsible tourism practices, and multi-stakeholder collaboration.

The panel was further honoured by the presence of the Committee of Agriculture, Trade and Tourism of the House of Representatives of Zanzibar, reflecting the importance placed on sustainable tourism as a key pillar for economic development and heritage preservation.

The discussion reaffirmed Zanzibar’s commitment to advancing a tourism sector that supports economic growth while safeguarding its natural, cultural, and historical assets for present and future generations.

History was made as Karibu-Kilifair 2026 dedicated an entire day to celebrating the beauty, culture, and heritage of Zanzibar.

The Zanzibar Pavilion came alive with vibrant displays of traditional attire, captivating cultural performances, authentic Zanzibari music, and the unique experiences that make Zanzibar one of Africa's most treasured destinations.
