MY EVENING REFLECTION
TOPIC: CHRIST REIGNS SUPREME EVEN IN THE ABYSS...
Our Lord Jesus is so universal that even in the abyss, he reigns supreme. The powers that dominate the vast oceans can't stop him, neither can their presence make Christ the King absent; he is king of the air ways, the King of the water ways, the King of the land ways, in fact, he is the way and even in abyss, his name is bowed to. Christ is the King everywhere and the abyss is no exception. That abyss you think you are in, is also in God's hands; in fact, he reigns supreme even in that your life's darkest moments and when men have concluded that they have succeeded in quenching you, somewhere Christ is looking on, smiling and watching. In the abyss of death, he showed up and Lazarus Rose up. From the abyss of sin, he pulled the adulterous woman and her life never remained the same. When he met those lepers' who gave fallen into the abyss of perpetual decay, he spoke and their skin became like to skin of new born babies. Abyss loses its power and it's terror because even there, the God man reigns add the King. Your abyss won't quench you; Christ sees clearly even there in its darkness.
Christ of the Abyss is a submerged bronze statue depicting Jesus Christ in the bottom of the sea and it remains one of the most photographed statues around the world. This statue is located in the Mediterranean Sea, off San Fruttuoso in Italy. It was to represent Christ in the new world below the waves, a memorial for all those who had lost their lives at sea and a monument to those who continued to dive beneath it. irrespective of their intention for lowering this giant statue into the sea, I will say that it goes to say that even at the depth, Christ still dwells there. In the depths, he is king, in the grace he is the King, on the cross, he remains the King, in the open ocean, playing field, hospitals, mortuaries, churches and every nook and cranny of our world, Christ remains the head, the leader, our Lord and our saviour, and even the abyss bears witness to this. When you find yourself in the abyss of sickness, sorrow, poverty, pain, bitter attacks, losses and hopelessness, just be sure that you are not alone; Christ is the with you. Be strong!
