MODERN TILES UNVEILS DESIGNS FOR ARUA CITY BEAUTIFICATION

Modern Tiles today presented architectural designs for the planned beautification of the Oil Well Roundabout, Mayor’s Garden, and the adjacent Police and Prisons gardens in Arua City.

The partnership, secured following lobbying efforts by the Arua City Council Mayor His Worship Alionzi Lawrence in June, will also see the installation of solar street lights from Rhino Camp Road to Euta.

Modern Tiles will fully fund the beautification works and, in return, advertise its products within the designated areas.

The company has also pledged to support more development initiatives in the city.

With its strategic location bordering the DR Congo and South Sudan and serving as a gateway towards Central Africa, Arua City remains a prime destination for investment and partnerships.

ARUA CITY PREPARES FOR NATIONAL CLEANING DAY

Arua City leadership has held a planning meeting involving the City Executive Committee, President’s Office, Division Mayors, Town Clerks, Heads of Departments, technical teams and the Uganda Police to prepare for the upcoming National Cleaning Day scheduled for Saturday, 29th August 2026.

The National Cleaning Day, inaugurated by the Vice President, H.E. Jessica Alupo, on 25th July 2026, requires all residents across Uganda to participate in cleaning their environment on the last Saturday of every month from 7:00am to 10:00am.

The City leadership is therefore calling upon all residents of Arua City to actively participate in the cleaning exercise this Saturday from 7:00am to 10:00am.

All local leaders are urged to mobilise their communities and ensure full compliance.

Together, let us build a cleaner, healthier and more beautiful Arua City!

Gov’t Introduces Cost-Sharing Policy for Foot & Mouth Disease Vaccination

The Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) has introduced a cost-sharing policy for Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) vaccination aimed at strengthening disease control and reducing recurrent outbreaks that continue to affect livestock farmers and markets.

The new policy was presented during an engagement meeting at Arua City Hall, bringing together agricultural officials, livestock farmers, city authorities and other stakeholders.

Under the new arrangement, farmers will contribute annually 16,000 per cow, 16,000 per pig, 8,000 per goat and 8,000 per sheep.

Farmers are expected to vaccinate their herds twice a year and work closely with veterinary authorities to ensure compliance and effective disease control.

The cost-sharing approach is intended to make the national FMD control programme more sustainable while protecting livestock, livelihoods and access to lucrative markets.

Protect your livestock. Vaccinate your animals. Stop the spread of Foot-and-Mouth Disease.

ARUA CITY AND PARTNERS PROMOTE HEALTHY LIVING THROUGH AEROBICS SESSION

Arua City, together with its development partners, has conducted an aerobics session at the City offices to promote physical exercise, healthy living and strengthen relationships among partner organisations.

The session, led by the City Mayor, H.W. Alionzi Lawrence, together with the Assistant Resident City Commissioner, Bako Judith, brought together city staff, partners and other stakeholders in a lively exercise aimed at encouraging regular physical activity as part of a healthy lifestyle.

Beyond promoting wellness, the activity provided an opportunity for the City and its partners to interact, strengthen working relationships and foster teamwork.

The aerobics session is among the final activities commemorating International Youth Day, World Refugee Day and the Day of the African Child, bringing the commemorations to a close through an activity that promotes health, unity and partnership.

Arua City appreciates all partners and stakeholders for their active participation and continued collaboration in making the three international days meaningful and impactful.

A healthy and active city is a stronger city!
