Salutation my people.
Today i was with a group of friends and one of them names Asuman asked me why i chose to join politics yet i have a job.
"Why do well of people like you want to get into politics," he asked?
Some people may have negative motives, but not everyone is like that.
The reason I would like to pursue a career in politics is because I want to see change across this country. My dream is to work for the people so I'll be focusing on what we can do as a Samia Bugwe North community, rather than doing it personally. I would like to help give everyone equal rights; race, gender and age shouldn't matter because everyone has the same basic human rights. I'm so privileged to be able to go to an incredible high school, the mighty Makerere University but kids my home areas of Sibalala, may not even be allowed to go to school. I want to make education a priority, in both the Busia and in other parts of this country. Women empowerment is very important to me. I believe that every women deserves respect, equal rights, and education no matter where they are from. This is what my late mother Juliet Hajusu Namugisu (R.I.P) who was a residence of Dabani East Village always stood for and people in villages of Sibarara, Agata , Buwumba, Buuda, Hamuli villages understand this better.
We need to demand change from this govt that isnt doing anything for the rights of the women in the communities. If I can help empower women by going into politics, then why wouldn't I? I'm also tired of the vast country spread corruption and useless nature of some institutions that are characterised by "kawukumi".It's frustrating to read the news and see how corrupt officials are ruining beautiful state offices and killing their own citizens. It needs to stop and all I want is to try to fix some of the problems. Maybe I'm an idealist, but if we don't try to change then we'll never know if change is even possible.
for MP samia Bugwe North.
