In our previous day routine,Innovation Africa engaged District leadership on the planned transition of some of Innovation Africa water system operation and maintenance services. The meeting focused on sustaining access to safe water for the communities served in Sigala, Buhamuna, Muyenjere, Mudondo, Buyengo Primary School water at solar, Buwanga A and B, Businje, Bumera, Bumalakani, Bukhatuba and Buhehe villages.

The Chief Magistrate HW. Thomas Okoth Aquinas yesterday successfully swore in 545 LC1 and 62 LCII Chairpersons at the district headquarters, formalizing the induction of grassroots leaders who will drive local governance and community development. He charged them to uphold the Constitution, collaborate with security organs, and prioritize peace, unity, and service delivery. The RDC, Namagogwe Hajira urged them to serve with integrity, transparency, and dedication, ensuring inclusive decision making and accurate record keeping. With all LC1 and LCII Chairpersons now in office, the district has completed a key governance milestone, paving the way for more effective service delivery and faster conflict resolution.

Assistant RDC, Masika Jackline today launched a 36-month project "Action to Advance SRHR and Human Rights to Key Populations in Uganda (ACT - Uganda)" at Royal Breeze Hotel. The project will be implemented under a consortium of Human Rights Awareness and Promotion Forum - HRAPF , Reproductive Health Uganda and Universal Coalition of Affirming Africans Uganda aiming at improving access to inclusive rights based sexual and reproductive health, mental and legal aid services to key populations. The RHU Executive Director, Jackson Chekwako in his address informed stakeholders, the project will strengthen sexual and reproductive health and human rights for key populations through coordinated services, advocacy, and capacity building. The ARDC on behalf of the District leadership pledged to spearhead collaboration to ensure inclusive, rights-based programming across the district.

Earlier today we were engagement by Human Rights Awareness and Promotion Forum - HRAPF in a stakeholders’ sensitization meeting on continuity of health service delivery for TB, malaria and HIV in the district. Stakeholders reviewed service statistics and identified gaps, leading to a focused discussion on strategies to ensure inclusive, uninterrupted care across all health facilities. We committed to facilitating coordinated referrals, strengthened supply chains, and targeted community outreach to reach vulnerable groups.

Today we successfully had a Stakeholders' Inception meeting with Women With a Mission for a new project "Advocating for the rights of the marginalized persons " running from 1st July 2026-June 2027. The engagement gave insights on the current situation of SHRH challenges in the district and provided a platform for agreement on modalities of implementation of the project. Jackline Masika, the Assistant RDC, addressing stakeholders gave assurance of the district's commitment in facilitating smooth implementation of the program.

Today, we joined MELAC Agri Project (MAP) to celebrate the graduation of 15 farmers from Buteba and Tiira trained in modern agronomy in Busitema.
The training equipped farmers with practical skills in improved crop production and agronomic practices,use of improved seed varieties for higher yields, household nutrition and food security strategies, basic agri-business and market readiness.
As clearly stated by Dr. Barasa Patrick the District Production Officer during his speech, this initiative directly supports the district’s priorities under the Parish Development Model (PDM) by increasing agricultural productivity and household incomes. This is the 10th graduation the organization has held since its inception in 2021 as revealed by Mr. Louis Lakitari, the Executive District of the organization. The farmers were given to start practicing the attained skills as the planting season commences.
In attendance were local leaders, religious leaders, Extension staff, Executive Director of Jitoleze Foundation , Mr. Clide Odhiambo and community members.
We congratulate the entire team from MELAC Agri Project upon this milestone.
