The peacekeeper of the island was injured during a conflict deep within the forest. Tumbo, known for his calm nature and for promoting peace among the young and juvenile chimpanzees, unfortunately found himself caught in a fight.

Caregivers heard commotion coming from the forest, and later that evening Tumbo returned with a deep cut on his left shoulder. Thankfully, the sanctuary veterinarian, Dr. Aaron Batamye, quickly treated and repaired the wound.

Tumbo is recovering well and, before long, he will be back to his peaceful self.

Thank you for the continued support to chimpanzees at Ngamba Island!
